The Flood / Re: What's your career plan?
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:33:26 AM »
Hmm, well for the present/near future it involves finishing my degree whilst getting as much relevant work experience as possible in mental healthcare. Then after that, it'll be either an MSc in counselling psychology (I think) or straight onto a clinical psychology doctorate programme. After that, qualify and start working for the NHS if the tories haven't finished butchering it by then.

Then it's pretty much just work at treating people, helping them get better and all that.

If I get to specialise further or the appropriate opportunity presents itself, I'd like to work in suicide prevention crisis teams and the like.

Although at the moment, I'd say we've moved up to Upper-Middle Class.

Serious / Re: Bar unvaccinated kids from public school?
« on: January 28, 2015, 06:24:48 PM »
It's a bit of a tricky one, considering how the usual reason for a child being vaccinated is a lack of education as to how vaccines work on the part of the parent. Kicking a child out of the one place where they have a chance to learn that vaccines don't infact cause autism/ebola/flatulence (Or all three) seems counter-intuitive.
Let's be real, though - little Johnny isn't going to tell mom and dad that he needs a vaccine. Even if he does, mom and dad will tell him it's against their beliefs.
Yeaaaaah...

*sigh*

I guess a precedent for it could be drawn to places that override the jehovah's witnesses who are perfectly happy to let their child die by refusing a transfusion. They are endangering the health of a child and if the state/country places greater value on letting a child grow up to choose their own beliefs than allowing parents to kill/endanger their bloody offspring then that's only a good thing.

Watching anime =/= Weaboo
>_>

Really though, it's true.

There aren't any genuine weaboos on this site. Well I hope not, maybe some stealthaboos or something. If you want to see the real deal, the stomach wrenching horror of a fully fledged weaboo then I'm sure I can find some youtube comment sections for you to purvey <_____<
That's exactly what a tricksy weeb would say to get me off his back. Nice try NSA.

Yes it does. Don't care.

Aren't you normally a stickler for using words properly though?
Even if you aren't using it 100% correctly, using it where it simply does not apply doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Turns out that 'Childkiller' and 'Bullbarstotheface' are inappropriate names to refer to a car.

And kill markings on the bonnet are even more of a social taboo :/

Turn in your badge and take long service leave. Go to a spa retreat or something. I'll cover for you.

There were a few that I could have been, as in they said it was fine to but I insisted on Mr X Ms Y and the like.

Now with my professors it's the same thing, they are very laid back about it and are happy for people to speak to them on a first name basis but it doesn't feel right not to address a Doctor as Doctor or Professor as Professor.
