On top of that this current adaption is really letting me down compared to what I expected from the quality of Zero.
story telling wise? because i think that UBW has better fight animations...
The animation is the only thing keeping me.
i agree that the story telling is weaker then Fate/Zero, as of ep 9 anyway. what about it is off-putting?
I just find the story over all to be quite weak.
Spoiler This huge magical event is happening and the grail just picks three highschool kids from the same area? That alone is full of shit, I don't really care for the reasoning, Waver, Melloi, the Einzberns and the randomer Ryuunosuke got in on the action last time. A diverse set of people.
Kirei, Saber and Ilya all know the name Emiya, yet none of them mention that to Shirou.
I find the convictions of the characters to be really weak, not that others in Zero, for example Waver, didn't have weak convictions or goals, but we were made believe them and saw growth of some sort. The only growth we're getting now is Shorous cock whenever Rin and Saber are onscreen.
>___> Well considering I know how you feel about adaptions, as well as how LC considers the adaptations. Let me ask you this. You seem to believe that an anime adaptation should tell you what you need to know, at least in regards to the story that it tells. However when adapting anything with such an expanded universe, the size of which would be difficult to fully explain anything without fundamentally changing the story for the sake of making it tell the viewer everything or almost everything they need to know. Is it better to stay true to the original content or change the story as it was told, in order to feed the viewer the knowledge they need to get a better understanding of the story and its contents, even if it means changing the original story as well? I know that most studios "try" to go for something thats in between, which usually works considering that almost all anime comes from manga, the rest comes from games, VNs, or light novels, original anime being the most rare. Manga and light novels are rather easy to adapt into anime, its just a matter of taking as much of the source material as possible and transferring it into a different medium, usually not a hard task, the rest is filling in the holes that pictures don't show. Games can be either very easy or a bit tough. Some games like card games give studios a lot of room to tell their own story, as long as long as it goes along with the established universe. Others have actual stories set up, like with rpgs, making them a bit more difficult, as its a matter of taking 40+ hours and putting it into 12 or 24 eps. VNs can be rather easy considering that most are just romance, although when you take a VN with so much damn content with 3 main routes, and different small sub routes in each. It becomes a bit of a daunting task, more so because the studio rather honor the original content, most of the time anyway, which would more likely please its fans, and get potential fans interested in the game. Honestly, usually its a matter of source material than anything. However in this case I'd rather see an adaptation more close to the original content, than see a studio try and take their own spin on it and potentially ruin the anime for the long time fans and any newcomers to the series. Wow, that was a lot.

Anime is amazing, if you watch the right shows.
But Noelle didn't you know, anime is the work of Satan himself.
I just watched Arpeggio of Blue Steel on Netflix and fucking loved it. I love getting sucked into various anime worlds.
