That's the point. They're supposed to seem appealing and entice you. Just like casino's are all flashy and colorful to entice you to blow your money.
It plays on the basic urges of the human mind and companies like that should be ashamed of themselves. Same with mobile games. South Park did a whole bit on that.

I'm ready for the lesson momma Azure
Each job has 14 Job Levels that are independent from your character levels. To progress in Job Level, you need to earn Job Points (JP), which are earned separately from XP.
In order to boost the number of JP you earn from battle, try and finish as many battles in succession as possible with the "Unscathed" bonus by taking no damage -- 1-4 battles with no damage will give a small boost to JP; 5-9 will declare you an "Unscathed Ace" and get you a bigger boost to JP; 10 or more in a row will brand you an "Unscathed Hero" and give you a significant JP bonus. Note that being inflicted with a status effect does count as taking damage and thus cancels an Unscathed bonus chain This is basic. (Its been like ages since I've played this, oh dear) All you have to do to beat this guy is level up, you said you're 15? or your party is. You need much more grinding than that. 20 maybe? The 'boss' is Thief Jackal and Spell Fencer? Just before battle heal up, get ready for power attacks and go for it. But the case is most likely you haven't leveled yourself out since you know? Grindy grindy. So just tighten your butt and grind, LC Grind for me
