If you're filming a movie that's designed to authenticate the experience of living in the '70s, the director has the opportunity to make an artistic decision: Film in 30fps, because they couldn't film any better than that in the '70s. Artistically, that's the better decision. 30fps is BETTER than 60fps in that context. Has that ever been done before? I don't know, but there's another example.
Have you seen Raging Bull? Great movie. Martin Scorsese made it in 1980. However, he chose to film it in black and white.
Why? I'm not sure. But it was his artistic decision, and some might argue that the movie would be worse if it was in color. Yes--Black and white is better than color, in that context.
That's the point I'm making.

Not how the games perform--but the games.

Whether it matters to YOU personally or not is a different story, but to say it doesn't look/perform better is just flat out a lie. Define "better", then.
