Yes, I've given people a few bucks for gas before to get a ride.

The Flood / Re: Do you think that there's a parallel universe where...
« on: February 02, 2016, 04:15:18 AM »
"Parallel Universe" is a poorly coined phrase more correctly meaning "Parallel Reality"

Considering that Universe entails all there is to entail by definition, any idea of a multiverse more correctly falls under the idea of multiple realities branching out across higher dimensions within a single universe.

Poor nomenclature shouldn't be deterent of good science.

That being said ,any claim that the extraneous realities do not exist is based on observational positivism, a practice which once cemented the idea that the world was flat and the earth was the center of the universe as fact.
Notice how to salvage an apparently meaningful question out of the OP you have to reverse engineer what he said and try to tell me he really meant something else, and again carelessly throw words around without knowing what they mean.  You have chosen to call what I referred to as a universe a reality now, so I would correctly restate "things not present in your notion of a reality do not exist by definition".

The flat earth bit is a creative line of thinking but you're conflating the notion of "has been perceived" with "can be perceived".  (People used to think the earth was flat merely because they hadn't been exposed to empirical evidence otherwise! / People think only this reality exists merely because by definition there can be no empirical evidence otherwise!) Alternate realities cannot be perceived by definition.  If they were perceivable the wouldn't be "alternate" realities, they would be reality.

If the OP meant to ask something like "In terms of the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, do you believe there was a possible world that followed from the initial conditions of this universe in which an analog for yourself was a Ugandan official named Shauqhbob?", I would be less inclined to think he was speaking nonsense but still
1) I think it's unlikely anyone on the site has an informed position on the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics
and
2) I don't see in what possible sense a totally different person could ever still be me

But I don't think he's asking that.

The Flood / Re: Do you think that there's a parallel universe where...
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:50:52 AM »
Except the notion that parallel universes do not exist on any meaningful level is merely your opinion.

Occurrences in this universe could easily be affected by actions in other universes, giving meaning to the existence of that universe from our point of view.

Of course, if you simply meant to say they do not exist at all, that too is merely your opinion.
Things not present in the universe do not exist by definition.  If you've got a creative way to define existence not in terms of the universe than the onus is on you to do so, and failing to do that you will continue to be speaking nonsense.

The Flood / Re: Do you think that there's a parallel universe where...
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:37:14 AM »
parallel universes do not exist in any meaningful way and asking about one is inherently nonsense
Opinion detected
It's not an opinion, this is how words work.

Either:
1) The OP just asked me whether or not I thought a thing that doesn't exist exists.
or
2) The OP has redefined existence for the purposes of this thread and not explained how.  Until OP elaborates on what it is he's talking about (nonsense), no one can meaningfully answer his question.

can confirm bans of a week or less being considered warnings has been a thing on bnet for a very long time (so I would guess a week, but I don't know how this has worked since the last site update)
there was at one time also such a thing as an actual warning but I've never gotten one
