Yeah, the remakes are far better than the originals. I think they did their best to fix the flaws in the 3rd gen (mainly, the surfing speed and surfing wild pokemon encounter rate, the former was sped up and the latter was reduced.)

Whenever I suggest Pokemon to someone, I always recommend them in this order: FireRed, SoulSilver, Platinum, Black and White (followed by their sequels), X and Y, and the OR/AS.

Alpha Sapphire will last you a lot longer than SSB will. Much larger game with a much better endgame than X and Y.

I think super Smash for 3DS is the reason why I haven't play Smash for Wii U at all
I'm pretty sure I'll still be playing the Wii U more because I like playing the game hardcore with good controlls not casually like the 3DS
I want to play with a Gamecube controller, but controller ports are so hard to come by
and I'm some kind of pleb scrub who will use anything but a GC
when I did play it, I played with the tablet and i was like "nahh I feel like a dumb loser lame guy"
