Thin pancakes. They're superior to thick ones.
Thin pancakes with vegemite :)
You spelled "cloudberry jam and whipped cream" wrong.

Serious / Re: The worlds first successfully implanted prosthetic arm
« on: October 10, 2014, 08:50:15 AM »
I've found an article that's in English: http://www.goteborgdaily.se/first-mind-controlled-prosthesis
Quote
The world’s first mind-controlled prosthetic arm has been developed at Chalmers and Sahlgrenska Hospital. With the robotic prosthesis, the patient can operate it like a real arm, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

“It is almost as if I forget about it sometimes,” Magnus Niska, who lost his right arm 10 years ago as a result of a tumor, told Göteborgs-Posten.

Attached by a bracket at the end of the upper arm, just above where the elbow would be, this is the first of its kind. In the past, implants like this have usually been controlled by electrodes on top of the skin.

But this time the patient has had a control system implanted that connects to the skeleton and is coupled with the muscles and nerves.

“This is the first patient in the world that uses electrodes to control a hand that he uses at home and in everyday life, so it is not only in the laboratory,” said Head of technology at Chalmers, Max Ortiz Catalan to Göteborgs-Posten.

Magnus’ old prosthesis would often stop working if it got too hot or cold or if he held his arm in the wrong position.

“It is more like a real arm, it does not feel like a tool. It feels more like it is one with the body,” said Niska.

Researchers hope to develope this prosthesis so that the patient can also feel with the use of this kind of implanted control system.

Team Fortress 2 was the most popular choice, so we'll play that, and possibly other games afterwards. Garry's Mod was a close second, so if anyone wants to stick around, we could probably play that as well.

We don't have any dedicated servers, so we'll either have to find an empty server or have someone host the game on their PC. It's basically connection vs. privacy, as hosting locally would cause lag for the people who are further away.

It would also help if everyone who wants to participate posted their Steam names here.

I'm True Velox on Steam.

Fawke.
Accent?
Never mind, when I think about it in more detail it doesn't work.
Tell me.
In broken English it works, but if don't think it does with any legitimate accent.

You can probably guess what it was supposed to sound like.
Fox? :D
Nope!

Why are you doing this?
Why not? I found the site interesting and wanted to share a few examples from it.

I thought that would ignore it, given the general opinion towards you, and wanted to help by showing that it was an interesting website.

Serious / The worlds first successfully implanted prosthetic arm
« on: October 10, 2014, 05:59:57 AM »

Magnus Niska from Sweden is the first person in the world who has been implanted with a prosthetic robotic arm. Up until now, all prosthetics has been removable and has had electrodes on the surface of the skin, causing operating difficulties in hot or cold environments.

This is the first implanted arm with electrodes integrated directly into the muscles. They are currently testing tactile feedback with the arm, meaning that Niska will eventually be able to feel sensory input through the arm.

Magnus Niska is has grown used to the prosthetic and views it as a part of his body, instead of just an accessory. Normal prosthetics need to be strapped to the body and is harder to control accurately, as the nerve signals sometimes have difficulties to go through.

This is undoubtedly a big step for robotic prosthetics.

Right now I am working on the next step in the website's overall design...

How would you feel about profiles actually showing Xbox Live, PSN and or Steam information such as gamer tag, latest played games and such, for those that have their gamer tag linked? Instead of it just being a simple link to your profile?
Wouldn't that require the accounts to be linked? Which in turn would require working together with Microsoft, Sony, and Valve to do?

Sounds awful. Something amazing such as maple syrup shouldn't go on something as plain as toast.
Toast by itself is plain, that's why you have toppings on it. Like marmalade. Or Nutella.

So the game can't be launched through steam....?
Pass.
If it's anything like the other origin games I know of, you have to create a shortcut of the .exe file in the game folder, then create a steam shortcut of that.

And then disable origin every time before starting up the game.
