The way I see it, and many others, is sexuality isn't just "Oh, I'd have sex with someone who's also a guy (or girl) - but whether you can see yourself in a relationship in that form as well.
There's a difference between sexual and romantic attraction, though, and they don't always overlap. Asexuals doesn't experience sexual attraction, and they can form romantic relationships.

I haven't really experienced anything myself, but I'm not really open about my sexuality at the moment.
Though I've heard from other people who are bi that they experience stereotyping from both straight and gay people. Straight people tend to assume that it's "just a phase" and gay people assume that it's a way of trying to pass off as "not really gay". It's also common to think that bisexuals aren't bi anymore just because they're in a monogamous relationship, as if they would magically become 100% gay just because they're dating someone of the same sex, or vice versa.
I wouldn't really call that oppression, though. Although I haven't experienced it myself, so I can't really make a judgement on that.
I'd definitely say that transgendered people are the most oppressed though, and they also have the highest suicide rate of any group of people in society, IIRC.

IIRC the movies make it fairly clear that a lot of rebels are ex-empire, and they're not clones. Luke's best fiend joined the Imperial Academy but quit and became an X-Wing pilot.
