Part of it is the same reason why people like to watch sports (at least when it comes to online games), and there's often also humorous commentary you know.
When it comes to single player games not everyone has the energy or will to play through them themselves so they might watch someone else do it, the commentary bit comes in here as well.

Nothing in particular happened, I just found myself in a good mood, and then I got happy that I was happy, and then happy because of that, and so on. I eventually came down from the "high", but I didn't come crashing down, just sorta went back to a normal mood you know?
