New Canaan Update

The settlement of Ogden has been settled and changes it's name to New Canaan in honor of being the first city established in this new nation. Routes between New Jerusalem and New Canaan begin to be cleared of hazards and military begins patrols of these areas to protect caravans and commuters.

In order to increase safety among the two cities, the government begins the construction of wall around the cities at the height of 200 feet and are being constructed out of concrete and reinforced with metal in the center.

The New Canaan king and his advisers pass sweeping legislation, with some being  based upon a pre-war document called the U.S Constitution. These new laws include the following:

Guns are allowed to be owned by citizens
Free speech and freedom of religion is allowed
Citizens are legal rights when arrested and placed on trial
Privacy will be respected and documentation will be retrieved in order to conduct searches
Slavery is illegal
Taxes will be set and can be accepted in either caps or produced goods
Tax will be lowered to persons who have multiple children

These new laws are highly accepted among the New Caananites and the introduction of the tax breaks based on large amounts of children drive birth rates up and greatly increases the population of the nation to 23,000 people and counting. The current military is now at 7,000. Nearby communities ask to be assimilated into New Caanan, bring large parts of the remaining area of Utah firmly under control and increase population even more to number over 79,0000 persons and increasing the military size again to over 18,000

Military forces are being sent out to annex the remaining unclaimed Utah lands. On the way, a group calling themselves the Followers of the Apocalypse are encountered and are escorted to the capital of New Jerusalem. These people tell their story of being from California and are impressed with the nation, including the amount of fertile land and purified water in part of the three Geckos used by the original Vault inhabitants. A partnership between New Caanan and the Followers is made and they move their HQ to the capital of Caanan, along with showing how to use power armor.
