Did anyone else find Vader's pun groan worthy? I've been trying to figure out why I basically cringed at it, when he does joke a fair amount in all the other films. So I compared some of his other jokes lines;
YouTube to his Rogue One line (link will probably get copyright claimed); YouTube And I dunno, I can't really put my finger on it. I think it's because it's like a self referential joke, something a fan would say but shouldn't actually be put to film. "Wouldn't it be cool if Darth Vader thought his choking ability was totally epic and funny?" It'd be like if the Emperor made some pun about Luke finding it "shocking" how much it hurt being electrified by him 824

They had more armor but less firepower than the ones on Hoth. 830

I rewatched the trailers to try and figure out more of what they reshot, seems like initially Jyn was gonna be the main Rebel character and not Cassian, and was gonna be a bit more Rebel sympathetic. Whereas in the actual film she's like apathetic at best about the rebellion and then abruptly gives the pro assault the death star speech that doesn't but then also does work.
I still think they Suicide Squad Joker'd Saw Gerrera, he seemed more like the weary leader type character in the trailers instead of a crazy cyborg. His lines in the trailer being about what Jyn would become if she kept fighting gave an interesting tone I thought, but then none of that is in the movie. The rumours I see people saying are that they changed the ending in reshoots, but I think more likely they changed around the whole first act considering how badly the scenes flow. 833

I guess I was kind of happy when KS20 died because I found him really annoying, but that was about it.Some of my complaints with the movie: Spoiler I don't really understand how that tentacle monster even works. It looks like an animal and not a sentient alien to me, so how does it even tell you it knows the person is telling the truth. And why doesn't the pilot guy lose his mind like he is apparently supposed to? He just goes like slightly eccentric at most. 835

The Flood / Re: Just got back from seeing Rogue One« on: December 16, 2016, 07:40:38 PM »I actually thought it was a decent movie. Specifically the ending scene where all the rebels in the hallway get fucking Vadered. I'll go into more detail later.I mean yeah I liked that Vader scene of course but it was like 45 seconds long, which made the other 2hrs 13m pretty long. It was the first movie I've seen where I checked my phone to see how long it had left so I could leave. 839

The Flood / Re: Just got back from seeing Rogue One« on: December 16, 2016, 02:15:26 AM »It's not a polished film, unlike TFA. From a creative perspective, I respect RO more than TFA though. Edwards at least tried to do something new. Characters aren't as good as TFA, but characters were also more important to that film because we will be stuck with them for two more movies.I do agree that it's good they at least tried to do something different. But I swear the same thing happened here like with Suicide Squad with reshoots changing characters' involvement, and the general flow of the movie for the worse. |
