Pretty sure it does. You just can't trade them a weapon that's above their item level tier

I think Champion Gundyr is my favorite boss of the game.
I mean I know we're probably sick of the 'guy in armor' bosses since DS2, but Champion Gundyr was just fun as hell to fight, mano e mano. I find his moveset really interesting, and I love how it keeps you on your toes. Especially in the 2nd phase, where he starts going all Star Platinum on your ass and starts hitting you with 1000 hit combos lol.
One of those bosses that just feels incredibly satisfying to solo, dodging like a madman and getting a hit in before rolling again.
What did you think of the fight? Fun or frustrating?
Well I think the problem with DS2 wasn't necessarily that there were a lot of guy in armour bosses, it's more like all the guy in armour bosses just had 3 attacks. 3 horizontal swipes, overhead slam and a poke thrust. Whereas Champion Gundyr is like a graceful ballerina with a halberd with a lot of different moves. So I thought it was pretty good.

Woah, this is actually pretty big.
People have discovered that DS3 actually has a poise system that is pretty much identical to what it was in DS1. It's currently just turned off and can easily be turned back on by making a few minor edits. The lack of poise is currently one of the biggest gripes the community has with the game (especially the PVP), so if From actually deliberately put this in there to experiment with and potentially later change, this could mean some serious changes for the game.
Hopefully they do change it, because from what little I understand of the pvp, the way it works now basically makes most strength weapons and heavy armour useless doesn't it
