Gaming / Re: Annual E3 Predictions Thread
« on: June 08, 2017, 01:07:10 PM »
They've said they won't be announcing a new Halo game this year and Halo FPS won't be at E3. My bets are Halo Wars 2 story DLC and maybe new leaders, alongside maybe Halo 5 Scorpio announcement on that front.

Otherwise, my prediction (read: hope) is a trailer for Frontier Defense for Titanfall 2, though EA's statement on their stuff suggests they won't be doing anything major for Titanfall.

New Battlefield 1 DLC is likely gonna be there too. Either a sneak peak of the Russia/ Eastern Front DLC (unless its already out I stopped following BF1) or a roadmap of the two other DLCs or something.

The Expanse S2 has a bit where Alex (the pilot of the Rocinante) is waiting in orbit aroubd Jupiter behind one of its moons, while his crew are doing something on Ganymede (third-closest moon to Jupiter).

When shit hits the fan on Ganymede, Alex decides to do this gravity slingshot maneuvere that will allow him to quickly pick up his friends from Ganymede, in a pretty visually impressive FX scene.

Problem; when asked to choose a moon for him.to be at, the writers picked one from a list that sounded good rather than one that made sense. The result is that in reality, the trajectory that Alex was on would take two years to complete, not minutes. The writers wrote this big blog post about it and basically explained about how no one realised until production on the CGI was already in progress and couldn't be changed.

Honestly they should have just had the Roci in LGO as part of the relief convoy after the Earth-Mars Battle, which would have let it land in minutes. The whole gravitational slingshot thing is useful to us plebs who don't even detonate nuclear bombs for propulsion because its a minimum energy/ maximum velocity thing that takes ages; in a world where they can hard burn at 1G acceleration from Earth to Neptune in a couple weeks flat, it's kind of weird.

tbh i'm probably gonna vote labour, not because I particularly like them but because I like the tories even less
I'd be dancing with UKIP if I lived there.

UKIP have basically ceased to exist. They're on the level of the BNP at this point.

343 on the subject of MMR in Matchmaking.

Quote
I sometimes get questions about how MMR affects matchmaking, and what it would be like to increase or decrease how aggressively we try for tight-skilled matches. Right now, Ranked enforces a certain amount of tightness, whereas Social and “tries” to be just as tight at first, but gives up after waiting too long. Warzone also tries to be tight at first, but gives up faster than Social.

I’ll try and explain the trade-offs.

If you are a good player, matchmaking tightly on skill turns a dial between two options:
No skill matchmaking:
Faster matchmaking
You get lots of kills
You get terrible teammates
If you want to kill, you don’t need to sweat
If you want to win, you DO need to sweat
Tight MMR matchmaking
Slower matchmaking
Better teammates
Not as many kills
If you want to kill, you really need to sweat
If you want to win, you need to try, but you don’t have to carry your team

The looser the matchmaking, the more likely you will have a bunch of noobs in your match that you can own for fun.

BUT, when it’s looser, it’s also more and more likely that you are by far the best player in the match.

Bull fucking shit, every match of Arena Slayer I've played in Halo 5 my teammates were tragically awful. Doesn't matter whether we win or lose. If we won, it's cause I carried their sorry ass with maybe one other going slightly positive or 0:0; If we lose it's because my teammates went even more negative than usual. This post is in complete contradiction with my games.
halo 5 is bad

Titanfall 2 is my favourite shooter in years.

Did you play mission 5?
i just played the first two, but i liked it enough to ask him to bring over his xbone again later
Awesome.

You gonna do a review/ Verb Plays... thread? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the campaign and multiplayer (if you end up trying it)
maybe

what annoys me is that the original titanfall is not available on any good platforms

The original Titanfall didn't have a singleplayer campaign. It was a series of multiplayer missions with some unique scripted events and dialogue in the background that most people never noticed because they were shooting stuff.

I did make this guide around T2's release for people who never played or got the story of the first, however.

Verb is fired. Baconshelf is my new waifu

I like the story, it's actually kind of cool how the Militia go about doing their shit. It's a shame they had to cut the campaign because of development and lawsuit fuckery though.

Semi related but I'm also the guy who's been going on the wiki and pretty much rewriting everything because it was all either incorrect, outdated, badly formatted, nonexistant or plain wrong information.

Also got ahold of the spritesheets for the game so I've been snipping out icons and banners and shit to upload.
