What? What is one person supposed to do against a FUCKING PLANE.

I'd be out of there the instant I saw a plane flying near my home.

Well, you see a plane coming at you, you don't have time to move. Looking at the picture of the house after the plane smashed into it, you can see that even if the woman moved and got her kids away, they wouldn't have made it far.

The thing is, it's actually surprising how much of the impact a fully grown human's body can absorb. That's why soldiers jump on grenades.

I remember seeing a picture a while back. It was from one of those areas in the world with rather frequent earthquakes. Point is, a house collapsed on a woman and her child. The woman sheltered her child by staying crouched over them on all fours. Point is, the woman died. But saved her kid.

I don't see why someone would do that though.

Called being a parent amigo.

By sacrificing your life- 20+ years of growth- for something which may only be two or three years worth? I jut can't see the logic in that.

So stop thinking logically. They were her kids. Little beings that she bore and raised.

I'd be concerned if she didn't try to save them.

I wouldn't. Someone who is fully grown and provides for themselves is infinitely more useful than a baby, which can't even feed itself.

That's why you should never put yourself in a position where you are responsible for the life of another human being.

I just see things logically. From a utalitarian standpoint. I hardly see what's wrong with that.

She probably didn't see it until the moment of impact.

You hear a big explosion. Possibly other loud noise. What do you do? O NOES TEH KIDS

It's the same logic as people who run back into a burning house to get a phto album or something else that isn't important. If I was in that situation, I'd be first out of the door or taking cover for myself before worrying about everyone else.

Passion rules reason.

The Flood / Could this work as a government?
« on: December 10, 2014, 05:02:08 PM »
Factors to factor in here before I begin;
-This would cover many hundreds of planets
-Humans were a powerful military at a time more advanced species were down to their last dregs in terms of vessels and weapons when they met, meaning huans were dominant in numbers for what they lacked in technology

The Imperium is the main empire in my works. It lasted over 3 centuries before the Fall of Earth, but it has a system that gradually corrupted throughout the years. When first started by huamns, it was intended to bring peace to the two warring alien factions at the time, which it did. However, some very xenophobic humans got top positions of power and gradually began to influence the laws and various systems of th Imperium. English (Or huamn as it is known by then) is established as the Imperial Standard language that all aliens must speak. The economy is based off the exisitng human one (Though that is more because the alien economy is more or less nonexistant by that point) and behind the scenes, it is actually enforced that there is always a lower class of workers, to make sure that there are always people who are never given the opportunity to speak out against the Imeprium but also indoctrinated from birth to swear loyalty, so that they will not rise up. The police and military are extremly hard to distinguish and public execution is common for political dissenters. There is an Order of Species in which species are ranked in tiers, with humans at the top and secies ranked based on their military power and society. This causes cities and districts to be deemed (species) only, essentially segregating the populace and making sure that they cannot join forces. However, this creates several rogue militias, which gradually rise in power, causing the Imperial Parliament to make a dedicated extermination campaign which is largely successsful until the S'pher invasion and also begin stockpiling supplies for billions at an uncharted system to be used as a refuge in case the worst happened.

Altogether, this society was functioning for hundreds of years and would likely to have continued to function due to the success of crackdowns on rebellion.

The bacteria would be there and could grow by itself. However, the bacteria we have on our bodies is of course evolved from even more primitive bacteria millions of years ago. It would be unlikely.

Serious / Re: How do You Think of "Friendship?"
« on: December 10, 2014, 04:36:32 PM »
There's people who I associate with which are people in my classes at school who I get on with because it's advantageous for me to do so. Essentially, I have something to gain, but that;s it. I have no interest in being around them when they're not needed.

There's my friends which I enjoy talking to and can spend time talking to but are mostly there because I have nothing else to do, but I still wouldn't particularly care if I cut all contact whatsoever.

There's trustworthy friends who I actually trust or respect of which there are 5 and are the only people whose opinions actually affect my actions.

Yes. It would eventually wpe out a lot of serious disabilities in a couple of decades and stop populations from going beyond what we can handle, if implemented well.

Another thought, should the income and other aspects of a person's life be looked at while applying? IE if they would likely rely on the government then they would be refused

Anyone watch that torchwood series where no one can die? The population would just increase even faster than it already is.

I felt like I was the only one.

Well, that series pretty much sums up why I wouldn't do anything with it aside from use it on myself then destroy it.

I thought Jack made it pretty compelling as to why it should just be nuked in the first place without even bothering to use it.

Yeah. Though I was more referring to the resource strain that would ensue with thousands being born and no one dying. Eventually, you'd have to have a system like what the guv'ment starts doing by 'removing' the weakest of the population- the critically ill, the elderly, the wounded and so forth. You'd need to get rid of those that are causing the most burden to keep a stable system at all.

No, only if Bungie stopped being corporate pricks
Yeah, how they're basically having Activision control them.
I just hope they don't get infinity ward'd
What happened to infinity ward?
Infinity Ward now has no-one left of the original studio, it's made entirely of Activision hires-hence the total lack of creativity and willingness to make games purely for money
Shit really? Well, I guess that was the death of infinity ward.
Respawn and all these new FPS studios are the spawn of the old Infinity Ward, so it's not all bad, it's just old IWx10+new recruits
Ah, I forgot that's who respawn were, the older IW employees.

The ones who made titanfall.

Oh, it's that time of year already...
I'm not sure if I'll see it on opening night, but this weekend I'll go... If trustworthy sources confirm it's worth seeing.
See, I like fantasy movies, but this series in particular could have been done in two movies. The creative license they've taken with the previous two is... alright.

I'm seeing it as soon as I finish school, I'll let you know.
