I'd argue that modding is a big part of the reason why the industry is as big as it is. Counterstrike, one of the most popular games on the planet, was basically born out of modding Half Life. Hell, I doubt Valve and Steam would be anywhere near as big as they are if it weren't for people modding the shit out of their games. Hell, do you think people would still be playing skyrim or fallout 4 if they didn't have mods to extend their longevity?

Bethesda's name is basically built on people modding their games. Same for games like Halo CE and Star Wars Battlefront II, which got entire new maps and campaign experiences (Like the SPv3 mod for Halo CE that adds weapons and enemies and stuff from later games into Halo 1) that kept people playing for over a decade after they first released.

Then there's the guys who use modding as a means of learning how to make games. Like, there's a well known example of the guy who made the Falskaar mod for Skyrim who got hired by Bungie because of his work in creating what was essentially a new game. And a lot of the original big studios like id were basically just bedroom programmers messing with stuff.

That's before coming to stuff like the Tale of Two Wastelands that puts all the Fallout 3 map amd quests into New Vegas, allowing you to play both games as one or the STALKER mod that does something similar. And then there's the ones that seek to make games playable; I've heard that a lot of PC ports like Dark Souls are basically unplayable without people going and making patch jobs themselves. Hell, I mod my Fallout 4 to get rid of some fancy lighting effects like Volumetric Rays and lens flares so I can run the game smoother, because certain sections of Boston are impossible to play in otherwise.

I feel like dismissing it entirely out of hand is a disservice to stuff when modding is a big part of why some of the major studios in business today even exist at all. Idk, I can see where Verb is coming fromnbut I've never really got why people beat the GAMES IZ ART drum so much.

I feel like there should be a limit on how many threads you can make a day
please explain to me how this isn't a quality thread, seriously

Is it because it deconstructs the media trope and real-life phenomenon of the Freudian excuse, and shows why it has no place in an intelligent mindset?

Maybe because of the bluntness of the solution? "Get over it" may seem harsh and overly simplified, but it encapsulates the attitude we should have towards those who justify their wrongdoing with their past.

Or is it because the clip comes from Totally Spies, and God knows you can't have strong writing in a cartoon/sitcom/soap/anything not sci-fi?
No its because you make like a million threads every five minutes
Literally meaningless. I could spam ten threads, and if they're all unique with discussion value, it doesn't fucking matter.

"omg there arent enough good threads why are we dead  :'("
"omg there are too many good threads I want to be dead  :'("

What is that abomination on the right
That is the Seeker armour. Something that an artist at 343 was able to model and texture with a straight face, and somehow got approved to be a canonical armour set utilised by the UNSC.

It pretty much symbolises everything wrong with halo.

I still don't understand why you think a game is static. The fact that updates and DLC exist is proof they aren't.
patches and DLC are different because they're official

it's the original artist coming in and improving upon his own work, so of course i'm okay with that

i'm less okay with DLC because i think it's a huge scam, but that's another subject

Fun fact: They got Yuri Lowenthal to play Spider-man, the same guy who voiced Sasuke Uchiha.

I would have preferred Josh Keaton, as always, but this isn't too bad, I guess.

He also plays one of the 6-4 mercenaries in Titanfall 2.

http://titanfall.wikia.com/wiki/Davis

Yuri Lowenthal has played just about every single anime character to ever live TBH
oh id never heard of him before the T2 credits

it makes sense, considering respawn used a lot of anime as inspiration for developing environments like angel city, the big stompy robots and the space ninjas complete with shuriken, throwing knives and grappling hooks

>343 announces new DLC content
>it's not part of the season pass
>they're announcing DLC content for a mediocre RTS that sold horribly and is already struggling to retain a population after four delayed updates to bring in mediocre content, before they've even finished releasing the content that people already paid for

can this company just fucking die and leave my halo alone already

The Flood / Re: it's been a while since I've talked about this
« on: June 13, 2017, 03:42:22 AM »
sitcoms are shit tbh
Contrarinism is shit.

Everyone has this "haha sitcoms are inherently bad" mentality because they associate the word "sitcom" with shitty multi-camera sitcoms like Two and a Half Men or Mike & Molly. Sitcoms that employ laugh tracks, references for the sake of themselves, and the theory that characters are less important than jokes.

A sitcom is literally just a situational comedy - it doesn't have to be that way. "Smartcoms" like Community and 30 Rock are single-camera shows, devoid of laugh tracks and everything else that makes their lesser competitors terrible. The characters drive the humor instead of being mouthpieces for it. The writing is so sharp that you literally catch new jokes every time you watch it, and there's a new joke nearly every four to five seconds.

Don't hate on quality media because of the connotations of a word.

There's a direct correlation between a tv show's quality and the amount of space battles shown per-season.

They did the same thing with rocket league too. Not to mention their refusal to allow BC for older titles and the fiasco regarding mods.

It's like they want to throw away free good PR.
