Not especially, I don't think water shortages will be especially consequential. Technology which allows on-the-go sanitation of water, as well as developing desalination capacities, will remedy most of it.
Well that's a fair point. But to counter that, you would then be faced with the problems offered by shortages of minerals and fuel to create and operate such technologies, right? Don't get me wrong, I love modern day tech but I don't believe technology can be the magical saviour of everything forever. In fact, I think overreliance on technology is what will eventually be a part of the problem in the future.

No. If something like that were to happen, it probably would've happened during the Cold War. Warfare and international conflict is changing to the point where it occupies cyberspace, is focused around espionage and is removed from the need of bayonets or trench shovels.
Our greatest threats will come with our advancements. Whether we will properly respond to techno-socio-economic phenomena like unemployment-causing automation and the development of an artificial general intelligence, as well as things like nuclear terrorism and divergent cultures.
Would you also consider the problems that would arise from water shortages under that as well? Though you have a point about how warfare is to commence. I doubt there would be much fighting, it would likely an invasion of a country, followed by retaliatory nuclear strikes and MAD.

I've been thinking a lot about this. My life when I graduate and work full time is pretty much going to be the same as it is now.
I currently attend college lectures 4 days a week and work 5 days, after university it'll be pretty much the same just without the lectures bit. If that's all life really is then I don't I don't want to live it. Suicide isn't really an option though is it, so I put on a fake mask everyday and keep myself distracted from these thoughts.
This is why we find hobbies and dedicate our free time to them.
I have no hobbies. I'm not really interested in anything.

By major war, I'm talking WWIII levels, not the shit that's happening in the ME right now. I mean superpowers going at it.
Personally, I believe that there will be something major by the end of the century, at least. I don't have any evidence or proof, it's just one of those things that you geta feeling about and you don't kow why. But I don't think we, as a species, will be able to last more than a hundred years without major combat.

Because unless we actually have a rapture hidden away somewhere in the bermuda triangle, I don't see the immediate benefit of exploring deeper and deeper into the oceans when we have a very good understanding of the way the Earth works and that technology (Which isn't all too different) could be used to start sending people into space.
-Gas Hydrates
-Rare Earth Metals
-Black Smokers that have unique life on every single one (and deposit a shit-tonne of minerals)
These are three immediate benefits. These would solve our future energy crisis, our reliance on China for most REM's (used in practically anything and everything technological), and you get to study an ecology that is literally found no where else, even on other similar structures. Saying it has "no immediate benefit" is almost insulting, especially when you consider at currently, we can do equally as "little" with space exploration at the moment. (Don't get me wrong, space exploration is a passion of mine, but we've missed tonnes on the ocean and it's easier to get to and doesn't have as much requirements on equipment and crew to do.)
You could say the same about all three for space. If we get to the point where we can at least have automated drones working their way through the asteroid belt, we will not need to dig any terrestrial minerals up again. If scouring the oceans for resources was so easy, we would be doing it already. The fact that our space exploration is much more advanced than our ocean exploration says something, to me at least.

I can't really blame ourselves to be honest. I mean, on an evolutionary scale, we've only been here practically a minute. We're the first species on Earth to achieve such high levels of sapience in the span of that minute, and it really comes to no one's surprise when we abuse, misuse and ignore that intelligence. We're toddlers trying to take our first, disastrous steps.
I feel like I'm in the minority here when I say I don't hold such a pessimistic outlook on humanity. Sure, there are some really horrible despicable shit that goes on in the world, but we really aren't any different to other species on the planet, we just do that horrible despicable shit slightly better. I don't agree that we're getting worse, I actually think we're improving, and transcending our Darwinist biological imperatives. I mean shit, it wasn't that long ago we were sacrificing women based on the fact they were witches, and before that we were crucifying people because we didn't like what they had to say. And yeah, Africa and the Middle East still face those issues, but a lot of that can be chalked up to poor infrastructure, Imperialism, and perhaps religion. The Western World is far from perfect, but we're finally starting to see a genuine shift for the better, at least in my opinion.
I'm sure Meta is going to bring out some autistic economic policy or historical fact that is somehow going to debunk what I said, but still, I don't completely agree with the whole "woe is us, we're the worst species on the planet" rhetoric.
That's not so much what I'm talking about. I'm talking about, look at everything around us. The way we live, where we live. How ugly everything is.

From there it should have been a group effort in the technology and medicine sectors to improve our lives. Not live in some restrictive society where you waste away doing a whole lot of nothing all day.
That's where I have to strongly disagree with you there.
How many species can claim they eliminated a plethora of diseases? Have been to the moon and back? Have perfected air, land and sea travel? Have split the atom? Have created telecommunications and a range of technological wizardry?
Yeah, we have undoubtedly fucked up along the line, but give any species the intelligence evolution has bestowed upon us in such a miniscule period of time and I doubt they'd fare any better. I think you're seriously not giving credit where credit is due.
And all of those apart from one were created as a product for war and adapted for other purpsoes. Rockets were only made because of the Nazi V2's and later the Cold War superpowers wanting to make sure they controlled space, Air, land and sea travel were all originally for air forces, navies and armies. I don't believe for a second we'd have advanced aerodynamics if they weren't a by-product of making fighter jets and bombers. Splitting the atom I don't need to go into, and telecommunications for easier communication- the first predecessors of the internet were created by the US army in WWII. Don't act like we've made technology for the good of mankind, we make technology so we can blow ourselves up easier, then adapt it for other purposes. It's only in the modern day when avenues of technology are now being made for civilian and scientific methods alone. But the way society works, making wars for profit and being purely money-centric? It can't work. It won't work. At some point in the near future, something, be it accident or intention, is going to spark what is an extremely dry forest in the peak of summer, and that will be the big reset, nature's way of realising it fucked things up and deciding to start again. I don't believe that we'll make it to the end of the century without another major war happening. Fuck, I doubt we'll make the halfway mark, the mindset of people is one that means that people won't care about issues until it's on their doorstep and too late to stop, and that's when things are going to get reeeally interesting.

I agree. For me personally the marine armor goes H:CE>H2>H3>Reach>H4. I miss those green HUDs from Combat Evolved.
But the green HUDs are a little silly, considering far superior tech is in existence (see Halo: Forward Unto Dawn) before the events of CE, it makes no sense
Until you realise, of course, that CE was released before anything else bar TFoR, and I doubt they could look into the future to make it coincide. Besides, the Corbulo cadets required an entire visor, one little plate in front of the eye (Which appeared again in Reach's Army and CE's Reach-Based BDU, mind) would be superior, if nothing else apart from the fact that it is lighter and less bulky.

I often feel like posting something like this, but I know that I'd probably just get called edgy or something, so I don't see the point. Either way, I 100% agree,
Me and a friend were having a discussion, walking home from school, about something like this. s people here probably know, I'm a writer. A good one? Maybe not, but I'm a writer, and it's my hobby, my reason for being I guess. I don't particularly care much for my family and aside from 2 or 3 people, I don't really have anyone who I'd describe as good friends, many aquantances but not many who I actually care about that much. So all I really have is writing, as it's something I can focus on, do and more or less my only motivation for anything right now. But when I look at the people around me, everyone is so boring; my parents just go to work for 9 hours a day then come home, watch tv, eat and go to bed because they don't have the time and money to do anything, they don't have interests. My peers at school, from what I can gather in conversation, do nothing but go home, watch tv, eat and spend their free time at work or revising, people don't have interests. I really despise how that is how society has become, just spend the first two decades of your life being taught crap that will be irrelevant to later life, then make yourself bankrupt to go and spend 3 years to get a piece of paper that won't even guarantee your place in somethign worth doing, meaning that the chances are you won't get into the field you want. Result? A life for the next 40 years of working the majority of the day to the point where to keep yourself with the necessities, you forget about your interests and hobbies. You become pointless, just a working, eating, sleeping meatbag. All I have myself is mywriting, my only skill is my creativity and that is my only motivation for getting through the day, of bothering to go into school and not just sacking it off and failing, because I have a motivation right now and if I can't do anything with that, I refuse to become a drone.
I won't end up like that. I hate modern society, where 'practical skills' are the ability to memorize useless facts in your brain and not what your talents are. 3DS has been around since, what, 2010? The only difference between the "versions" is the size of the console, so it's not really like a 5/5S/5C thing. Console's had a five year run, and the N3DS is more like a DSi than a new entry: it's a 3DS with a few games that can run only on it. They'll still be making 3DS games after this, so unless some N3DS games come out that you just have to have or you want a second analog stick, there's no point in upgrading.
It seems like apple, where they release a *slight* upgrade every year that costs more money thn the last and then fase out the last version within the year.
I feel sorry for people who genuinely fall for this kind of thing.
They haven't fazed out the normal 3DS at all up until now, and even then that's spotty. The ONLY "upgrade" in the past five years was the screen size. And that's debatable as an upgrade because the screens are the same resolution, so everything looks more blurry and the system is more bulky.

3DS XL is the same price as the 3DS was when it released. There's only a difference because they reduced the price of the normal 3DS when it launched. Same thing when they released the 2DS, although it came out cheaper initially.
That is completely pointless.
