Really the only plot-hole left is how the Bomb got into the Ops Center in Crows Nest.

We can talk about pre-343i Halo 3 though.

I've never thought about that. Fucking lol.

Also, thought of one for H2; Gravy had access to I05's teleportation grid, why did he not just teleport a shit ton of flood past the quarantine zone?

A huge one that always bothers me when I start Arrival/Sierra 117. How were Johnson and Miranda able to get back to Earth faster than the Forerunner Dreadnought? Not only that, but make it to the Crow's Nest and set up operations there. It seems like they've been there for quite some time. What ship did they take? How is it faster than the technologically superior Forerunners? Are Dreadnoughts just really slow in slipspace? How long was Chief laying in the jungle before Johnson and his search party found him? Would be nice to see a comic addressing some of this.
I recently played through Halo 3 and was wondering the same things when I was playing on those levels.

Halo 3 takes place like 3 months after Halo 2. Read the uprising comics to see what happened between 2 and 3 with the chief.

It's little more than a few days or maybe two weeks, from Cairo Station to Arrival. the Battle of Installation 04 started on August 30th, 2552, and the end of the war was late december, 2552 (March 2553 officially)
It took 3 weeks to travel to the Ark, on the edge of the galaxy, but maybe a few days for 05-Earth, at the most.

1. How the fuck did the Gravemind get to the Ark? The only way to get there was the portal on earth, and if he made it there he could have easily attacked earth. I mean he could have at least launched a couple spores before going through the portal.
Well in Halo 2 the Gravemind could teleport Chief and the Arbiter so he must have teleported himself to the Ark when he found its location.

Quote
2. How did the Covenant know where the portal on earth was? Yeah, I get that they were told what planet to go to, but how would they know that it was underneath Kenya and not fucking Canada?
If anything I bet Truth's Dreadnought had the coordinates to the portal and the rest of the Covenant followed.

Quote
3. Why the fuck would Cortana send a flood infected Covenant cruiser to earth just to send a message? She nearly made the species go to extinct, that fucking cunt.
When you link up with the Elites on Floodgate, one says that the Flood-Infested Carrier that made it to Earth got past an Elite blockade. Cortana just recorded that message and sent it to Earth.

1) The Gravemind had access to Delta halo's transportation grid. That was Forerunner technology that teleported Chief and Thel, but couldn't teleport a ship. The Flood cannot randomly teleport around the place.

Hitler, because his actions ultimately led to a better world than we'd have without WWII.

inb4 angsty teens get angsty because we all don't share the same opinion

The fact that he brought a country back from economic ruin to being one of the world's superpowers isn't something that should just be shoved under the rug. If he'd have advanced only another 20 miles and hit Moscow, he would have likely won the war.

I would attribute Germany's economic success to his finance minister (I know there was Schacht(?) and Goering, but the latter turned it into a short term war economy rather than long term stability plans).

...but Hitler certainly knew how to garner support and rile up a crowd, I'll give him that.

I don't know much about the others, we mainly did about Hitler's rise to power in history.
Did you do Nazi Germany for AS/A Level History? It goes into a bit more detail about life in Germany prior to and after his rise.

Schacht wasn't actually from the Nazi Party, but he was kept on because of his economic strategy was getting Germany out of the dirt, and reduced the Versailles repayments through Dawes and Young Plans (don't know much about them exactly, just that they reduced the repayments so Germany could concentrate on other things). He quit after 4 years, either out of stress or the fact he didn't like working for the Nazi Party, and then Goering took charge in '36 with his "4 year plan" to ramp up Germany's self sufficiency in preparation for war. I think he was still in charge of it by the 40's, as I recall at some point him stating Germany was now in a "war economy" - as in, everything went to the state, enjoy yer rations, and deal with it.

Only did GCSE. Didn't get the required grade (B) to get into A level, so I chose chemistry instead.

If it has absolutely no connection to that atrocious forerunner storyline they have going I might pick it up.

It's focused on the postwar period immediately after the events of Halo 3, same time frame as Initiation and the Kilo-5 Trilogy, a few years before John, the Ur-Didact and Prometheans came back into the fray.

Kind of makes you wonder how different things would be if Germany won that war.

Can someone quote the bnet post? I can't access bnet at school.
Spoiler
I'll keep this short.(Just kidding) I've gone through an incredibly shitty past year. And now it's a new year. It's a new year to restart, and rebuild. And I am now aware of something. I'm sentimental. I've got a hard time letting the past go. And in order to move on with my life, and repair it, I've got to let one truly big part of my life off the hook.

This place. This place is a chapter of my life that's come and now long passed me by. And hanging onto it is a hindrance to me if I stand any chance of making things right. The friends I made here, the experiences I shared, they are all part of a chapter in my life that I've been out-running for too long now. It's time for me to pick myself up, and move on. I've already said my goodbyes to people here as an insurance numerous times. What's needed to have been said was already said.

So for this, I'd like to indulge in something truly selfish. I want to do the one thing that always made me happy here whenever I stopped by. Talk to people. Listen to people.

If you have a problem, or something you feel like talking about, or even asking me some personal questions, consider this the last, and only time to do it. This thread is not an ask me anything. It's more of a, let's have a conversation about anything thread.

There is only one rule. Do not ask me about my current condition, and do not ask me about the past year of my life. Everything else is fair game. I will keep this open throughout the entire day, and as I go along, I'll make sure to talk to everybody who shows up.

Come the end of the night, I'll shut everything down for good and I'll mosey off to my own devices. This is not a pity thread or a sad thread for those looking to cause trouble. This is me doing what I should've done a while back. Pick myself up off the floor, and move on. Start a new chapter for myself and leave old wounds behind.

All I'd like to do, is leave on a good note. By doing the one thing I always liked to do here with people. Talk, share stories, share advice, and have a good experience.

Thanks.

Note, this is before 343 started fixing bungie's fuckups

-Landfall shows Chief's arrival in the day, but Arrival shows it at night
-How were Keyes, Johnson and Thel able to get back so quickly?
-To War
-How does Thel not know what a Flood ship is? Does he really think a ship trailing green smoke is brutes? WTF?
-High Charity, portal, etcetera*
-UNSC Frigates hovering in an atmosphere despite the UNSC bnot having sufficiently advanced antigravity technology*
-Firing a MAC round in-atmosphere would have devastated the area
-Where do Truth's Scarabs come from (The Covenant), "Truth's fleet lies in ruins"
-Miranda dropping a pelican on the platform instead of gunning it down and brining reinforcements
-Chief shows no signs of stress entering High Charity, despite being utterly terrified of the flood
-The Gravemind is high charity, really, the Gravemind should have just ensnared John in flood biomass, there are billions of flood forms across HC
-How did Thel get to the Dawn's bridge so quickly?

*- fuckups 343 has at least partially explained

Gaming / Re: Vote on maps to be remade in Battlefield 4
« on: January 23, 2015, 03:54:40 AM »
More BF3 map remakes? Jesus, most of the maps apart from 1 or 2 weren't well designed, and the already returned the Metro Meat Pulverizer.

I'd agree on the large BC2 maps (Heavy Metal, Arica Harbour, Atacama Desert and perhaps Harvest Day), but I'd expect the destructibility to be ported over too at the very least. I can't say much about BF2 maps but from what I hear from old timers is that most of them were well designed with lots of flank points and only a few bottlenecks for those who wish to grind, and would be a good addition (though they already added Karkland, Oman and Wake for BF3, so those are out).

They added Oman in BF4, it isn't out of the question. Besides, I thought Wake was the Blood Gulch of battlefield, it's been in at least 3 of the games I know of.

Oh, didn't know that. Wake I think is the only map to have been on ALL battlefield games ('cept Bad Companies), but I still don't like the idea of releasing the same maps again when they're just rehashes.

And BF3's ones were pretty bad for design or that fucking AC130 (Alborz Mtns. on BF3 would have been great without the constant barrages)

Yeah, Oman, Metro, Firestorm and Caspian were added in Second Assault. China Rising and Final Stand have the bomber and the commander can call in the Gunships, but they seem reasonable now. I only have about 15 kills with the bomber, after a year of playing. I guess Wake is the Battlefield signature map, just like how Halo has a canyon (Blood Gulch, Coag, Valhalla, Ragnarok, Hemorrhage and so forth)
