It's one thing if it's a single-player focused franchise. Another if it's not.

Video games aren't inherently story-tellers. Having multiplayer only is not a bad idea - but the execution is what matters.

You need to give your customers something more to do offline. Either that or bring the price down on the product.

I don't nevissarily mean story, just single player content. I spent likely thousands of hours on Star Wars battlefront jut on the AI battles, I never touched multiplayer. I have spent hundreds if hours on Halo forge and even firefight on Rech just messing around.

I was quite pleased.

Though I do hope it is an option on/ off for custom games.

Yeah, me too. Just thought it would be funny/relevant to current events.

I really enjoyed the beta (despite me only playing 10 games, I didn't want to ruin the experience too much for when the game releases). Even if it doesn't play like a traditional Halo game, it's an exceptionally fun game in it's own right.

I enjoyed it too, but I hae up after 10 because I despise midship and every game was just that. Plus 4v4 isn't my style, I'm more about the vehicle and big team gameplay. I really hope we get invasion back, that is my favourite gametype from any Halo to date.

Invasion was so fire in Reach. With a large party it can be so epic. I heard that BTB was being taken out of 5...

But I always preferred FFA. Unless I'm running with a team I deem competent (which is rare, my friends suck at Halo and I'm uncharacteristically good at it) I don't take it seriously.

Frankie confirmed that we have some cools shit for BTB later on in the future. Honestly, I can see the larger vehicle maps taking advantage of spartan abilities way more than crowded arena maps- I never even used the ground Pound once on any map because I never got to a a position to be able to use it effectively. Larger maps can offer more verticality in their design and take avant age if clamber and so forth, especially if aircraft are involved.

Gaming / What do you think of this statement?

"Any game should be able to stand up on its single player alone."

Of course, the reasoning being that if an in line community stops playing a game/ the servers go down, you have spent £60 on a big paperweight.

Personally, I fully agree. I think that any game should have enough single player content to justify purchase with multiplayer as an added bonus. Any multiplayer only title shouldn't be a full priced release.

Y'know how a weapon that has it's magazine loaded behind the trigger is a bullpup weapon, right? What do you call one where the magazine a loaded on top of te weapon? Case in point the M1 Garand.

I'm trying to think of something- the main service rifle for my human infantry (The M231) loads its ammo on te top side but I can't think of the name.

Bullpup weapons>
bullpups=horrible balance

However, the shorter barrel in front of the user means less recoil and more stability. It's a tradeoff.

But I think they look cool.

The Flood / Am I going insane?

This is my latest project in my scifi stuff. I'm naming every ship in the human fleet.

But here's the catch, it's took 4 hours to do this, and Sol alone has 20 dedicated defence fleets- I've done 4 and I'm struggling. Primus, the nearest world, has 7 fleets, Secundus and Tertius (Both same star system) have 15, and the rest have between 1 and five. This doesn't count Exodus itslef, which has a dedicated fleet of 1,000 at all times.

Am I going insane? Am I in way over my head? At least for the second one; fuck no. This is fun.

Gaming / Re: Prometheans (Halo) vs A Space Marine
« on: February 01, 2015, 01:26:41 PM »
Prometheans were badass mother fuckers.

No idea why they named the spooky skull robots after them.

The first beings composed were Forerunner Warrior-Servants- who willingly sacrficed biological form to assist the Didact. Hence, why Prometheans- it was only when the Didact needed more that he began composing humans, unwillingly.

the didact even wished to have been oen himself, but notes that he has a resistance to the flood after experimenting on himself to find a cure for the flood.
Also as far as I can remember Master Chief mostly (maybe only?) fought human prometheans in H4 as it is visible by their digital human skull when they scream.

I wonder if there's a clear difference between human prometheans and promethean prometheans. Are the latter actually seen in-game?

Depends. The appearance of forerunners greatly varies, but it is largely hinted that human and forerunner have the same evolutionary background- one theory being that the precursors created a species that eventually diverged into the two.

However, Halo 4 Terminals indicate ;to me) that those that guard the Cryptum are the Forerunner Prometheans, and hold their duty in a composed form. But all are in artificial form either way, I imagine the skull is decorative. But the ones you fight in Spartan Ops are likely to be human, when considering that Jul 'Mdama has command of Prometheans that were composed at New Phoenix, and then the hints were getting about Spartan Strike.

If you're interested, I could link a couple of topics on HaloArchive about this kind of speculation for you.

Just curious, i know they die in dust but is it possible that they come back to life in multiple ways?

This is kind of answered in the campaign. Cortana notes that the essence left after the death (That a watcher uses to resurrect) is a data packet that contains the information to be used to make a Knight body for the AI. So in a way, yes. The Watchers can build a new body/ teleport one in within a limited timespan (Note, this is only seen on Requiem and it coul be possible this was only available near a Promethean 'factory') before the data is lost.
Quote
Promethean 'factory'

There were more then one promethean factory? i thought the composer was the source of making prometheans?

No. Te composer renders a biological form into a digital one, which is then stored on Installation 03 to be put into a Knight body- you can see the composed essences of humans in Halo Escalation. That's what the portal on Mantle's Approach was for- to transport the data to the next stage of production.

I never new that was a factory in 03, thanks, i think thats enough to help my question.

Well remember that 03 itself had a portal to the Composer Forge. It coul be there that the factory was.

I say one on Requiem because it was the Pentagon for the Warrior-Servants, the main HQ. It had the resources to hold off Seige for several years, likely centuries. It isn't too at fetched to think it could make Prometheans, just lies how the array had factories to build Sentinels in times of crisis.

So there could be multiple factories on each installation?

You see a bunch in Halo 2- in the skyboxes on Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone.

Huh, i never new that those 2 were factory, alright i think that helped with my question, thanks!

I you look at the skybox at the beginning of SI, you see one get shot down by a plasma bolt. You then adventure through this crashed factory in Quarantine Zone.

God. Fucking. Damn it. That shit was my childhood. The feels are hitting hard right now.
When was the last time you played the game?
So then what's there to be upset about when you hardly play the game?
I explained that in my first comment. It was my childhood. I hate to see it go and to be replaced with the pile of shit that is the MCC.
So then if the game means so much to you then how come you hardly play it? For something that means that much you would think the person would be playing it a lot more. To me it's simply nothing more than you complaining about something. You're upset over a dead game having hardly a population to it when you hardly play it anyway.
Think of it this way: you used to be best friends with someone. You used to hang out with them everyday and after not talking to them in a while, you find out that they're slowly dying. You don't just disregard all of the great times you've had with them just because you don't see each other anymore, you remember them and cherish the memories you had with them. You get genuinely upset. That's how I feel about Halo 3 slowly deteriorating.

No, I'd forget everything because I don't want to be a depressed motherfucker who spends his days pining for a nostalgic past.

Funny.

I'm the only person who can get matches in this thread.

Whenever I play, I get matches easily.

Which is funny because I don't want to play halo matchmaking.

Everyone on here hates it because you have a finite supply of cash and you actually have to play the game to make money that might not last you long if you spend like a retard. As long as you don't see playing missions as a chore, you should be able to have fun with it.

I'm not opposed to doing missions as long as it isn't just the same thing over and over again.
There's like hundreds of different missions but not as many that will get you any decent cash. There's plenty of different ways to play and different teammates with different play styles so it shouldn't ever feel repetitive.

As long as it doesn't turn into destiny. I'm not bothered about grinds if I can mess around doing it.
