Gaming / Re: Microsoft possibly buying Bungie back
« on: February 09, 2015, 07:39:04 AM »
If this is true, then what would even be the point? Bungie has already shown their incompetence with Destiny, and even if they did get Halo back, would it really be the same without Joe Staten and Marty? They'd probably fuck that up too. I never ever thought I'd say this, but Halo is actually in better hands with 343 now rather than fucking Bungie.

At least they can make a story that isn't just BECUMTM LEGEENNNDTM GARRDDIIIAAANNNTM

I see that Dice is ramping up the realism factor in their games.

Visceral*

DICE isn't doing this one, they're working on Battlefront now.

I cannot fucking wait for this game.
It's already out and it's called Battlefield 4.

I played it and I don't think it feels like BF4 at all.

And I have >400 hours logged on BF4, so I feel fairly qualified to say.

Is Hardline even any good? I never even played Battlefield 4, I am more excited for the Handsome Collection for Borderlands, and for Battleborn.

It feels a lot faster than BF4, but bear in mind it is built on the same engine.

However, there are individual loadouts and gear for each faction akin to US/ Russia in BF3 and you buy attachments and guns and shit with money rather than automatically.

Gaming / Re: MCC should have custom campaign playlists
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:40:49 PM »
I was under the impression that the MCC had that feature.

It has the presets by 343i, but they're just easy-LASO campaigns, and maybe one or two extras for every game then a couple more for the cross game lists.

But I was under the impression that player customised playlists was going to be a thing too.

Toggle option. LOL 343 is fucking horrible.

Why is it bad that it's a toggle. I would assume the competitive/ MLG/ arena playlists would have the toggle off, and thus mean there are playlists for people who do and don't like it.

Everyone wins! ^^
It's because it's still in the game. After all he thinks the game should be catered to him and these competitive gamers only.
Nah, it's a problem because it's still in the game as the default settings. It's harder to get people into Competitive Halo when the settings are so radically different as no sprint, which is going to require all different maps as well, I'd bet.

Sprint could stay in the game in some way so long as it was something like an armor ability or trait. It just becomes trickier then, because 343i removed AA's/Equipment and you'd need to code Sprint to a button, and if it's a thing that's toggled off in a majority of the playlists/gametypes then it becomes questionable as to have it all; being, is it worth the time and resources?

well, the people who want to play competitive would play competitive. The people who don't care don't care, right? I think that for every 'classic'-styled playlist, we get a newer version too, IE BTB classic and BTB new. I don't see what the problem is there.
Because you split up the already fledgling Halo multiplayer population and enforce the divide between them that has been made horribly evident by the Reachtards and Halo4tards ignoring all rational thought and proclaiming shit like Custom Loadouts were tactical & 100% balanced, and that AL was skillful.

The point is simply that there shouldn't have to be a Classic and New, there should only have to be one; what's New shouldn't be so far a departure from what fans were used to for a decade. A fairly large part of what fans were used to was consistent game flow, which you really cannot have with Sprint b/c sprint requires the player to run then stop and shoot, instead of constantly moving and being able to shoot without stopping. Yeah, one isn't persay better than the other as they're 2 different methods of gameplay, but Halo had been that way for a decade, and changing it to the other style b/c it's more common in games is hurtful to plenty of fans and despite being easier for players of other games to jump into Halo, it makes Halo less unique in that department.

I said this before, but I never touched the MLG playlist in Halo 3 because I thought it would be really different from the default gameplay of Team Slayer and such, and that it would just be Slayer BRs and 1 or 2 power weapons(only shotty, rocket, or sniper). Now, if that ignorant perception was enough to throw people off from trying out Competitive Halo, imagine what it would be like if it was thought to be even more different and actually was. It's going to throw more people away from looking into it and getting involved.

What bout the people who don't want to play classic style halo? Despite what people who only play halo 2 say, halo reach, 4 and 5 play nothing like other games aside from the same things as the older games. What f I want to play more like those three games and not play Halo 3 and 2? And likewise, why should those who want to play the older ones be forced to play th ones they don't enjoy? Hence why I want separate playlists for BTB on MCC; I hate playing H2 and 3, and the fact they are all that are voted is why I don't play it.
That's what playlists like Living Dead, Grifball, Invasion, SWAT, and Action Sack were always for. They weren't the same as default settings, SWAT was all about twitch reflexes, Living Dead was variations of a Community-made gametype, Action Sack was about randomness(really non-competitive) and minigames, and Invasion was a radically different Class-based Asymmetric gametype(with really awful Community-made maps).

I started playing Xbox online in Halo 3 and I still have more than my fair share of problems with that game, Sooo.

They shouldn't, and they can choose not to getting a party together or something. How, exactly is this connected to what we were discussing? If you're arguing for splitting the playlists into Classic/New, I already stated why I don't think that would work, and how it hasn't worked before in Reach or Halo 4.

Eh. That's probably my bad wording. What I meant was, what if I wanted to play a halo 4 style BTB match but don't want to play 2 or 3? IMO, halo reach an 4 play like halo but nothing like say battlefield or call of duty- they're fast paced enough for me to enjoy but they're different enough for me to differentiate them from the aforementioned.

But I also think halos multiplayer system is outdated anyway, and I'd prefer a system like battelfield where I can just find a gametype I like on a map I like and then play the gametypes I enjoy without having to bother with what I don't like. Having to did players just takes more unnecessary time to search.
As someone who started off on Halo PC, I still don't entirely understand the point of the Matchmaking system either.
There was no skill matching and nobody complained, you learned to play with better players or you tried to find lobbies with not as skilled players.
There was no randomness, because you knew what players what map what gametype what exact settings you joined into.
There was no complaining about joining midgame, because you would just play and wait for the next game to start.

Of course, you could add skill matching by only allowing a player to join a lobby that he/she is most close to in Skill level.
Of course, you could just incorporate this system as is into the game, or have it so the player just chooses gametype & map then they get the lobby to join.
Of course, you could have no JIP by making it so a full lobby is required before the game can start.

You could make a system just like what I said above, really just tweaks to how online PC server games work, and resolve pretty much every issue that people ever had with Console MM. And yes, you won't have to worry about not being able to play on X map, because from my experience every map is being played until many years after the game has been released when the least popular maps just aren't always played, but still tend to show up.

Or you can keep the regular Matchmaking system that infuriates so many, and has screwed over buyers of DLC so many times before.

That DLC point is probably the best argument for this kind of thing. Also, this would allow people to just host custom games and then open up the lobby to random joins- someone could search the browser for fat kid and find a random customs lobby to jump into. I bet that would revive the forge and customs community, as organising game days isn't as much a challenge, simply saying "I'll be hosting whenever, just join" would w great and having and on joins could also just make it more likely to get a full game.

Gaming / MCC should have custom campaign playlists
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:31:59 PM »
Like, a 'make a playlist' option, so I could play all the Covenant missions in one go like Truth and Reconciliation, Keyes, Gravemind, High Charity, Long Night of Solace and so forth.

Or maybe one where I can jut add my favourite missions, like Metropolis, Gravemind, The Ark, The Covenant, Tayari Plaza, Coastal Highway, New Alexandria and Midnight.

I don't understand why making custom campaign playlists was never an option to begin with. Hell, it would mean you could just add Kizingo Blvd. and a couple of the SpOps missions to the Tank playlist or something.

I'd love to be able to just make a big playlist of my favourite levels and go from there.

The other thing is that players should have the option to select what maps they want to play on and what ones they don't. So when you go into matchmaking you're only playing on the maps you have selected. That way the developer knows what maps people like the best and what ones they don't. By doing that it would be a lot more effective at making maps than asking a forum about what maps they like and hate.

Yeah. I'm wondering why variation on the canyon will be in H5, be it a Blood Gulch or Valhalla remake or hopefully a new one. I mean, surely they hae analytics on which are the most played maps; if someone told me that Ragnarok wasn't the most played amp on Halo 4, I'd ask what te hell they were smoking. 343 should use the data like that to see which ones are popular. Is like to see an option for a 'custom playlist' where you select maps and modes as then find, say, a CTF game on Sandtrap. Once the match I done, you then go back to searching for, say, Slayer on Assembly or something.

Off Topic, but could you consider Longbow on H4 a reinaginibg I Avalanche/ Sidewinder? It's something I've been wondering, snowy environment, (rough) U shape, BTB play....

Who's making all these maps for 4v4, 8v8 and 32v32? It's not practical.

Lemon, yeah I play with randoms because how the fuck can you get 31 friends all online at the same time and in the same game.

I'm not speaking for anyone other than myself when I say I can't have fun without being competitive.

Well why not just make a forge world-style map, where you use the entire map in the 32 player teams, but it's cut down to a small section like FW Canyon for the small team stuff.

I mean, I want my Vulture, Locust and motherfucking Cobra in a first person halo game, but it won't happen until we get bigger maps.
We've got Sparrowhawks, Pelicans, Seraphs, Jets, Phantoms, Longswords, and Scarabs on Halo PC. Honestly, even then they don't work half bad. Not something Devs would accept as retail quality, but still playable, semi-fairly balanced, and fun.

It's more than doable.
