Gaming / Re: What are some of your favorite UIs/menus
« on: July 19, 2017, 04:31:22 AM »
I really liked the UI for Halo Reach. All the menus were easy to navigate, everything was laid out well and looked smooth. Also ot didn't have the awful blue filter they insist on putting in Halo games. Reach also had some great music that I never found annoying (ie. Halo 4 and 5) so that's a bonus.

I also loved how Reach changed backgrounds depending on what campaign mission you last played.

I also like the menus in the original Titanfall, though I have a soft spot for concept art menus. No UI in this pic but all the menu backgrounds looked like this. Combined with the awesome soundtrack the menus were cool. I was really disappointed when Titanfall 2 just had generic grey backgrounds with your character on top. I love concept art.

I also like Destiny's UI visually though the control system is awful and I hate it. That Persona one in OP is fucking hideous and I hate it. It's way to crowded and confusing at a glance and just looks like a fucking mess. Though other screenshots I've seen also look the same way.

Made by request for a friend.
All those hours in forge have paid off. Great looking set.

So it turns out it didn't record the five minute flythrough like I thought it did.

I might just do a compilation of my forge stuff later. I did a sweet looking armoury last night.

Also somewhat related but I'm working on a remake of War Games from Titanfall right now. Even managed to get the simpod intro cameras working depending on team, so that's cool.
Do you work solo or you have a few helpers?

Solo.

For the most part Reach and ODST are tied for my favourite OSTs.

I quite like a lot of 4's in a vaccuum but it doesn't really feel very Halo-ish aside from 117 and maybe Arrival. This Armour, for example, feels like it would be more at home in a Mass Effect game.

Everything's really cheap up north. Like, the further away from London you are the cheaper everything gets. Leeds has the Royal Armouries if you're interested in guns, swords, bows amd so forth used throughout history. You can also get from London to Manchester in one or two trains in less than a day if that's your thing, too.

Imperial War and Natural History museums in London are cool and you also have your standard tourist bollocks like Buck Palace, Parliament etc down there.

i fucking hate the clickbait article names sensationalising it as though we now have star trek teleporters.

It's a first step.

Qunatum entanglement doesn't give you all the information, and you still have to send half of the information (bound by the speed of light) to the destination manually anyway so the message being sent can be read.

Furthermore, quantum entanglement involves pairing the particles then moving them to their destination manually.

Ergo, no it isn't. Scifi teleportation will never exist and if it will, it won't have anything to do with QE.

The new Multiplayer director for Halo 6 (Tom French, Halo 5s forge head) actually agrees that it's a problem too. So here's hoping he has the power to sort that out.
>Multiplayer director
Maybe if he was lead environment design or whatever, his opinion might have more value to it.
Tom French has generally been ptetty receptive to community feedback and the like. He was pretty vocal in stating how he was shouting at the then-multiplayer team for not including gametypes like assault and infection when they had been ready for months and were highly demanded for inclusion. He's usually been pretty active in bug reporting stuff as well. I know people who've had better times reporting glitches to his twitter than the fucking waypoint support forum.

Under his lead I'd be surprised if 6 did the same bullshit with holding back content that should have been there at launch again.

I can't stand 343 but Tom French is generally a pretty cool dude.

773
Halo fucking sucks and the fans should die in a fire
You watch and enjoy anime. Shut the fuck up.

Or what? You'll clog up the next 10 pages with the same exact fucking Fireteam Majestic quotes AGAIN?

And where were you, DeMarco?

People on PC really aren't used to much in this game. I've only played for like an hour and am using the default classes and titans.

For the amount of time I've see people talk about how complex TF is, the community is pretty sensitive.

Learn to use the Mastiff/ EPG/ Softball/ Cold War if you want to get fanmail. Don't use SMG shittery.
I don't know what any of those are, but I'll have a look.

Mastiff is a shotgun with wide horizontal but no vertical spread. EPG is an old arena shootrt style rocket launcher that requires considerable lead, Cold war is a 4-grenade burst gun that requires considerable lead + splash damage to kill and good use of the movement and softball is a sticky grenade launcher. All are projectile weapons and take a lot more skill to use than the shitscans like CAR or R-97.
Hm, I'll give them a shot when I unlock them. For the time being I want to hold on to my initial stats though.

MVP 13/16 games and only one game out of the top 3 (joined late that game I think). I know it won't last but fun to keep the streak going for now. Reminds me of the time I had an average k/d of 36 in Halo 3 Team Doubles for the first day of playing it. Good times.

Also, I know you're not a fan of "shitscans", but what are the best weapons for hipfire run-and-gun? I wanna give that a shot too. Alternator?
The CAR, Alternator and R-97 and laser-accurate but you're a bad person if you use them. Doubly so if PC. R-201/ R-101 are also ok.

EPG-1 is also very accurate but has to compensate for travel time and 1HKs and the L-STAR is just the DOOM plasma rifle. The X-55 Devotion also has good hipfire but you're also a bad person for using that.
Damn, so many things making you a bad person in this game.

The SMGs in particular are pretty much weapons that are lassr-accurate and can delete people without giving them time to be able to fight back. And they function better than rifles at long range. It's retarded how overpowering they are. On consoles they're not as bad but then we get the G2A5, a rifle that deletes in 3 hits in less than a second across the map with heavy aim assist. However assault rifles aren't as good on PC because no aim assist.

The Devotion was the go-to "Fuck you" gun for the longest time before it thankfully got nerfed.

The grenadiers, mastiff and snipers at least take some skill to use by requiring the user to lead shots and have a good understanding of the movement system, map design and positioning. Setting up shop with a more-or-less instant kill R97 at the back of the map means that people are actively punished for making use of movement mechanics.

It wasn't as bad in T1 because getting shot by a carbine would allow you to react because the TTK was a lot higher but now it's more or less an instant death. It's even worse when people start amping their weapons.

I'd recommend loading up Attrition or Bounty Hunt in private match if you want to test out guns. The AI make suitable targets.
