This could get interest... fast.
Especially if Russia capitalizes on the opportunity and attempts a bigger takeover of some more former Soviet territories. I mean, we know Russia and China have been getting closer in the past few years, with Russia saying it was prepared to use nuclear weapons if the west had intervened in Ukraine.
Has anyone else noticed, recently, how the current situation seems to be like the that led to World War II? Russia = Germany trying to become more powerful after being stripped of much of it's economy and territory, with the west appeasing them for fear of starting another war, and America starting to lose power with China starting to gain it.
I say that, as someone who is of the belief that there will be a Third World War in my lifetime. Not necissarily nuclear, but certainly between superpowers. I hate sounding like a tinfoil hat, but I genuinely believe that there will be another major war within the next few decades.
There won't be a third world war. With Globalization, World Economy and trade. It's not in any country's best interest to start a large war, because everyone will lose.
Yet China and Russia hve both threatened the US with serious military and even nuclear action if they keep being meddling kids. And if the current stock market thing does become a new Great Depression, then there wouldn't be much of a world economy left to save. That said, I see something between the EU/ NATO and Russia as more likely, due to Russia actually having waged war recently for their former territories.
I'm a pessimist at heart, so forgive me if I sound like that. But I don't really see everything turning into sunshine and rainbows. Even if it wasn't politics, something like climate change could spark something big.
And if the current stock market thing does become a new Great Depression Not even close mate, stop buying into the fear mongering.
Unemployment rate is still way down, the economy is simply adjusting itself because of the over inflated Chinese market. The crash today has pretty much already stabilized and recovered in the U.S.
I was more using that as a hypothetical. I don;t actually think that's gonna happen. That comment about the petrol thing in the other thread was a joke. I'll just stop now.

I kind of know what you mean, if not as extreme.
Best thing I do is just do my scifi work or do some coding, make a small game. It's the only time I feel genuinely satisifed.

Halo 3 ODST was Halo 3 with medkits.

Sure, but more than anything I want to see his face. It felt awkward in Forward Unto Dawn and Escalation where Blue Team had their helmets off and he's just standing there with it on.
But master chief doesn't have a face! He's what the player wants him to be!

I think my previous sudden depression may have been to do with kids. Like, having more than two of the buggers at a time seems to put too much drain on resources.
So if I'm right now by carefully managing how many kids there are so I get new dwellers at a steady rate, I should be fine.

I hope they introduce vault experiments. They won't, because it's a light hearted game, but still.
Being able to use FEV to create mutants out of your dwellers or soemthing would be awesome.

Lol
I'm making Vault 101 - no one ever enters and no one ever leaves
Next I'm going to do Vault 69 - 1 man and 999 women ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Well, I'll allow my lunchbox characters in.
But otherwise, it's my new experiment.
That's actually a good way to avoid deathclaws. No radio and no opening the vault = no attacks. And later in the game exploring really doesn't yield too much.
I've already been raided. But as previously stated, I have an alien gun and a gauss rifle so raiders don't stand much of a chance.

That's actually a decent idea...
I'm being an RP Vault-Tec Overseer. All my vaults have an experiment assigned to them.

Jesus. Feel sorry for ya.
Similar thing happened to my friend. He just went into the kitchen to get some food and his aunt (He lives with his aunt as a carer, as she has something that allows her to have medical weed) just went ballistic at him, shouting and telling him to get out. So two minutes later, he was on the street with a rucksack with some clothes and his phone and stuff. Right now he;s living in a hostel, but his dad helped him out by getting his stuff that he couldn't bring and storing it in his garage. Turns out, his aunt and grandparents had been planning to kick him out for a couple of months.
Must suck. My father constantly says he would kick me out if he had the choice, but my mother wants me to stay. So I'm in a funny situation myself.

I'm yet to go beyond 30 dwellers
Like, I will be doing fine then within the space of ten minutes, all my food or water runs out and my dweller happiness begins to tank
Trying getting a 2:1 supply/demand ratio. The bar for each resource shouldn't be further than halfway.
It never is. It's just that whenever I can 'harvest' a new lot of food or whatever, it barely take sit out of the red, which in turn creates a self-sustaining thing where the happiness plunges and it takes longer to get resources.
IT probably doesn;t help I rarely have more than about three people with any stats above, like ,1.
I don't remember what population is required for training rooms, but it's pretty safe to pull people out of resource rooms to train them up overnight. Happiness will drop, but it'll come back when you put them back in. I generally train at night and put them back in rooms during the day.
Hadn't considered that.
I'm usually scared to pull anyone out of resource management, lest the levels tank while I'm away.
This game's pretty smart. It shuts down resource use after maybe 10 minutes away, but timed things like training and exploration keep going. So you'll stop using resources but train all night. It's pretty safe, and either way your dwellers aren't going to die from starvation or thirst.
Hmm. Thanks for the tip. I have basically been unable to get past the opening stages of the game without tanking. Hard. I'll try this and let you know how it goes ^ ^

Night's the worst time of day for me. That's usually when I feel the shittiest.
It also happens to be when I have my best ideas, drive, and motivation apparently. It's the most lopsided, polarized fucking combo I can think of. Ideal night for me?
Music to set the mood. Total quiet outside of the mood, no interuptions. Total darkness. And either writing like mad or working on something in G-mod.
I never really got Gmod. I played it, but I never really saw what the point of it was, all anyone seemed to do was attach rocket boosters to bathtubs and lol at how funny it was.
I just spawned NPCs and made them fight to the death. It honestly felt, to me, more like a crappier, less intuitive version of Forge or the Far Cry map editor.
But I was like, 11 last time I played it so that might have affected it.
Shameless self promotion. If you've the mind for it you can make that rickety old engine do a lot more than first glance.
Certainly more than the autismo bulk of the fanbase would have you believe.
Oh, wow. That's actually kind of cool.
I should probably have another go at it when I get a computer with better processing power than a remote control helicopter.
Steep learning curves ahoy bacon. The game was never meant to function in the manner that people use it so if you ever want to make something like what I posted up above there, well, it's not easy. And I ain't even good at it.
These are examples of what people who are good at it can do.
Fuck. If I had seen those without exposition, I could honestly believe they were actually drawn/ painted/ whatever.

So I am now conducting my own vault experiments. My current one is to make the vault population all pregnant women and children (Who can't die) that man the stims, radaway and power rooms, while all the men are exploring or stood outside the vault waiting to make the women pregnant again.
