Serious / Re: Should suicide be illegal?
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:24:47 AM »
Why? Is it just a case of being left over laws from a while back that have yet to catch up, then?
Because people interpret it as murder.

Well that's dumb.

6602
I thought Tanaka was Navy?

No. she was an army engineer.

What's the point? Are they going to imprison the corpse?
People who attempted suicide, historically, were punished. They're not anymore in the first world, but euthanasia, or assisted suicide, is still illegal in most countries. Despite it being the most safe, viable, and humane way to go. That's the issue.

Yes, you should absolutely have the right to die.

Why? Is it just a case of being left over laws from a while back that have yet to catch up, then?

Y'know, I've just realised Osiris comes from four different branches of the UNSCDF.

Locke = ONI
Vale = Navy
Tanaka = Army
Buck = Marines

Well, I suppose ONI is technically Navy but they're practically a branch of their own anyway.

One thing that kind of annoys me is how shields don't recharge while you're sprinting.

I mean, I get why it's like that. Still annoying, though. Hard to get used to.

Oh yeah. Funny thing.

My mother asked me yesterday if I knew what she and my father do for jobs.

Turns out I was completely wrong. shows how much I know, lol.

Serious / Should suicide be illegal?
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:05:46 AM »
Like, I've always wondered this, but there was something on the news a couple weeks ago about it. Why is it against the law for people to commit suicide? Similarly, why is assisted suicide illegal? Say, for instance, someone is paralyzed from the neck down and they don't want to live anymore, why do we (IE anyone else) have the right to say that they must live?

Why is this a thing? I'm hoping someone who knows more about the subject can answer this. I don't really get it.

Also, unrelated, but I think it's funny that failed suicide attempts used to get punished with hanging. Fun little fact.

I bought BF4 last night and tried it out.

I'm so confused....so, lost....

It can be overwhelming I suppose. There's progression upon progression upon progression.

Like, you progress every single gun in the game to unlcok more stuff for it. You progress your class to unlock more stuff for it, you progress with an overall rank to unlock stuff and then there's progression for every vehicle. With over 100 guns in the game, it can be daunting.

What do you need help with?

I thought the pistol was pretty weaksauce in the beta.

But everyone else thinks it was great so idk

Well that was because
-No Aim assist
-Other weapons like the AR have gotten better
-a crappy clutterd smartscope animation
Aim assist and its zoom animation have nothing to do with its strength

Yeah it actually does.

A weapon with even a little bit of aim assist can get shots off faster and more effectively than a weapon without any.
The zoom animation is supposed to make it easier to fire, but it really doesn't, which makes it even harder to aim and get the shots off.

Yeah.

big image

this isn't a good sight.

This is why cats are shitty pets.

And if you open it up and clean it out it should be fine. If you haven't turned it on with the vomit inside there shouldn't be a problem.

If not take the hard drive out (which should be totally safe from the vomit), and go buy a used 360. They're dirt cheap these days. Even the 360S.

Na man. The works are fucking gutted in there. Power brick has a red light which means something is fucked with the brick's electronics itself. Acid corrosion on a lot of internal parts.

Gay start to the day.
Fuck

Get the hard drive out ASAP and just buy a used 360S. They're really cheap.

Beat ya to it. This is post operating table I'm talking here. Saved the hard drive and saved the disc trapped in the disc drive after dismantling everything.

I might look around for a used one. Still though, far away to look around for one. Nobody in my town would have one to sell that's for sure. Internet order and shipping is a masochists dream up here.

Looks like I'll just buckle down and wait a bit. I've little funds at the moment anyway.

Danka for the advice though, at least.

At least the controller can still work with a PC.

But I'm still wary of being put in a position of power after the first proboards site. So ehh... I might volunteer next time.

Yes.

Get an XB1.

Then you can play your 360 games in november and play with us!

I really don't feel like shelling out just about two grand for the new brick and a TV that can actually run it with the proper port connections.

That ain't money I have at the moment. And it probably wouldn't be money I'd be willing to spend either. I might just take it as an opportunity to bid farewell to gayming on consoles.

Dammit. I wanted to keep dunking burger kids on dark souls. A shame.

HDTV's aren't that expensive anymore. Still, it would still be a couple hundred overall for the console and tv and games.

pls sandy

get xbone

play battlefield with me ;-;

Canada monies, remember?

Xbone would be a square 500 bucks.
Any game I get would be 80 bucks.
Couple extra bits I always purchase would be 120 bucks.
Gas to travel to the closest place that sells them would be 100 bucks.
Mail order would be outrageous if I chose not to drive.

Grand total without the TV is 800 bucks right there.

And even a shitty cheap TV would be another bare minimum, 400 bucks.

1200 bucks in total. And that's if I went with utter grabage for a TV. I'm afraid I don't have that on hand at the moment.

oh

Oh indeed. Maybe when I've not got so many other costly priorities I can blow a few thousand away. Sadly, not at the moment though. What a fun winter this is going to be.

MUH ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

Just you watch. I'm calling it. Next thing you know my computer is going to go on me.

Is the 360 totally bricked or is it repairable? You might be able to get a new one or get it repaired for cheap. they're hardly expensive pre-owned these days.

I already dismantled it to save the disc trapped inside. Total acid corrosion on all the delicate bits and chips.

She's dead, jim.

Ah well. I can't be fuckin' arsed at the moment to bother with more of this crap. I'll sort through stuff later. In the meantime, I can appreciate how long the thing lasted in the first place.

Hell of a lot of years out of it. It was going to go one of these days or another.

Yeah. I've had mine since 2009 with very few problems. Though it's started acting up in the past year. I'm just hoping it lasts until november so I can transfer all of my stuff to XB1, then probably sell it (The 360) or something.

Oh, god, there's already art of Olympia Vale and Usze Taham.

Son' bitch.

I actually just noticed how similar her armour would be styled as somewhat ornamental like Sangheili gear. And the matching red to Usze's gear.

Hmm.

343's art style in general makes most of the Spartan stuff look like Sangheili armour.

114 kills, 71 deaths
25,530 score (I was best engineer)
71 kills with the MX4
Game length : 1 hour, 51 minutes

Siege of Shanghai is a great map. 400% conquest is a great mode.

My father often talks about various ethnicities and how they should be gassed. And I genuinely can't tell if he's just exaggerating his dislike or he's being serious. Kind of scares me.

My mother... eh. I like my mother, but she's boring. Nothing really notable about her.

My mother doesn't believe in most mental disorders, and simply calls them "different states of mind" that people either refuse to overcome (like anxiety) or use as a crutch (autism).

My father, while indifferent towards religion, believes there's an afterlife, simply because energy cannot be destroyed, "so it must end up somewhere".

I'm crying right now. Your father didn't listen much in science lessons, I take it?

When did they send you an invite?

Several times in the past two months.
