Man this was a really weak year.
How do you figure lol
Nothing really notable or interesting came out. I only got Destiny 2 because literally nothing else this year has interested me.

Problem with CoD is that (until this year's iteration) it was repetitive and dull If you're talking about the SP sure, but the MP is the same shit it's always been. You know what you're getting at this point.
IW had a pretty fun campaign. The EVA segments were pretty comfy. Idk how par for the course it is because that and AW are the only ones I've ever played but I really enjoyed it.
Shame it was a CoD game and the chances of it getting a sequel are almost none because muh warld war two
Some people have already found out that the next CoD will be Black Ops 4 since it will be Treyarch's turn to release a game. The future shit is gonna come back.
Unless it lets me stamp out martian insurgents, it's not the same.
Apparently part of the description of the job listing was being above Prestige 1 in Blops 3
why
If it's a gameplay designer, I imagine you want people who are experienced with the series. Unlike say, 343 "Hire people who hate Halo to make Halo" Industries.

how retarded do you have to be to buy a game from a company that's been fairly consistently shit for a decade
I want to support Respawn, who are too good for EA and it's not fair that it's EA they got stuck with.

Wasn't overly impressed with the beta, nice to have some variety in terms of planets now but the gameplay itself felt rather tedious. I liked the Takodana gamemode though. Might ask for it for Christmas if I can't think of anything else.
I've done that, at the very least I'm interested by the campaign since DICE aren't the ones working on it
It's an episodic campaign you have to buy story DLC to keep up with
the story dlc is free dude
Oh huh. I read it was just the multiplayer stuff that was. nvm then,

I feel like Catalonia fucked themselves over a bit. They were basically their own nation minus a few things, and now they're not going to get that at all.
They don't want to pay taxes to Madrid. They aren't ethnic Spanish so they should have the right to decide for their future.
It's always about fucking money, isn't it? They supposedly contribute 1/5 of Spain's economy while making 16 percent of the total population. They just wanna put it back in their fat wallets.
If you could have 25% more of your own money, wouldn't you secede?
Doesn't mean much when most of their trade is to Spain and the EU, which has already been outlined to them that cessation will also take them out of the EU and all those lovely money-making trade deals.
They'd have to renegotiate EU membership and trade as well as build back bridges to Spain before they'd see any of that "freed up" 25%.
Not to mention that most European countries would not have officially recognised Catalonia as a sovereign nation.
Not giving Spain a free pass with how they've handled the situation but the Catalonian government had to have expected some sort of backlash to this. You don't autistically screech your way to independence and expect your neighbouring allies to just buck up and accept it.
Well I mean...
Britain's trying now after the indyref trial run a year earlier .
Yeah but other countries recognise the UK as an actual country

didnt EA just tank the studio doing the single player starwars game?
They tanked Visceral because apparently their game was goig through trouble behind the scenes, and EA wants to turn it into a Destiny clone. They also acquired basedRespawn a few days later, so now I'm scared for the future of Titanfall.

Anyway, initial impressions are good. The combat is surprisingly enjoyable and I'm interested in where this all goes. Hopefully I'll be able to make my writeups a bit more interesting once the game opens up a bit more.

Part One - Knights of the Old Republic Four thousand years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Republic verges on collapse. DARTH MALAK, last surviving apprentice of the Dark Lord Revan, has unleashed an invincible Sith armada upon an unsuspecting galaxy.
Crushing all resistance, Malak's war of conquest has left the Jedi Order scattered and vulnerable as countless Knights fall in battle, and many more swear allegiance to the new Sith Master.
In the skies above the Outer Rim world of Taris, a Jedi battle fleet engages the forces of Darth Malak in a desperate effort to halt the Sith's galactic domination....
Ok so the game begins with a space battle. The ship my character is on is being ambushed by a Sith battle fleet, and I've been woken up by a dude called Trask Ulgo. Apparently we have to find a woman named Bastila, the CO on the "Endar Spire". Then Trask speaks to me as he tells me how to use the controller, which is a... strange method of tutorial. Anyway, first things first is to gear up. My locker has a Stealth Field Generator, Blaster Rifle, a Sword, some basic clothes, two medical packs and Adrenal Stamina alongside some XP. I then head out with Trask to go protect Bastila from boarding parties. Shortly after exiting the room, we're sent a message by Carth Onasi - one of the republic's best Pilots. Apparently things are really going down the shitter. Exiting into the next hallway, we stumble across two Sith troops killing a Republic soldier in a pretty hilarious firefight. However, they're both pretty swiftly dispatched. The next room also contains some more who are also killed quickly. In some crates, I also find some combat armour and fragmentation grenades. The next room proceeds largely without note, until I encounter two people duelling with lightsabers - one of Bastila's friends and a Dark Jedi. Ultimately, they both die. Continuing to the bridge, I'm told to equip a Melee Weapon for close quarters, so I go full Skyrim and equip a shortsword in one hand and a longsword in the other. After engaging in some melee combat, it turns out that the bridge crew have retreated to the escape pods. Here, I'm directed to level up. I didn't add any skills, instead saving the point for the next levelup, but I did add the Caution Feat to my character. We encounter another Dark Jedi, and Task gives his life trying to fend him off to allow me to escape. Venturing into the Starboard section of the ship, I'm directed to sneak past a Sith patrol as I'm now the only surviving crewmember on the ship. However, I ended up shooting them anyway because I accidentally pressed the option that didn't tutorial me on how to stealth. I do, however, activate the damaged droid sitting next to the door in front of me, allowing it to assist me in dispatching the next squad of Sith Troopers. After using computer fuckery and a robot to do my killing for me, I manage to loot a vibroblade and an Ion Blaster off a corpse. However, I'm more of a guns kind of guy and the Blaster is only effective vs. droids so I just stick to my trusty Blaster Rifle. I finally make it to the escape pods, only to discover Bastila has already evacuated and there's no reason to stick around. Luckily, Carth was waiting for me, so we escape and head down to Taris as the Endar Spire explodes in orbit. We crash into not-Coruscant, probably killing a few hundred people. No big deal. Anyway, I have some dreams of fighting a Sith dude or something and wake up in an abandoned apartment a few days later. Apparently, Taris is now under Sith occupation, quarantine and martial law so we're hiding out. I'm also told about how Bastila is one of the Jedi that killed Darth Revan - Malak's old master, so she's pretty important. Apparently, escape pods have been crashing in the "Undercity", so checking those out is probably our best bet right now. Wait.... Halo CE, is that you? And with that, I'm given my next assignment. Try and find Bastila so that we can get off this planet.

Totally not Copying Verb Edition So anyway yeah, I've been interested in playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for a long time but it doesn't run on Windows 10, so I never got round to it. Anyway, now that it's available as an OG Xbox BAckwards Compatible title on Xbox One, I've decided to do a playthrough. My only real experience with BioWare games is the Mass Effect Trilogy, with the first one being my favourite, and I'm told that ME1 borrowed very heavily from Knights of the Old Republic in its structure. That, with the endless praise the two games get online, has given me high expectations on what to expect (though I'm pretty in the dark about the actual story of the game, surprisingly). In the grand tradition of copying Verbatim's playthrough threads, I'll try to post updates whenever I play. I'll detail my character in the OP too. Character Info Class: Soldier
Attributes Strength:11 Dexterity:17 Constitution:14 Intelligence:10 Wisdom:12 Charisma:10
Skills Computer Use: 0 Demolitions: 1 Stealth: 1 Awareness: 0 Persuade: 0 Repair: 0 Security: 0 Treat Injury: 1
Feats: Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Pistol/ Rifle/ Heavy Weapons/ Melee Weapons/ Armour Proficiency: Light/ Medium/ Heavy (Soldier class default) Power Attack Power Blast Conditioning
I used the recommended values, for the most part, so I have no idea how effective this will be. Planets Completed Green = Ones that have no specific order
Endar Spire [Tutorial] - [ ] Taris - [ ] Dantooine - [ ]
Tatooine - [ ] Kashyyyk - [ ] Manaan - [ ] Koraban - [ ]
Leviathan - [ ] Unknown World - [ ] Star Forge - [ ]
No spoilers plsthx let's fuckin go and see why these games have so much hype

Do you mean the Outer Space Treaty? That doesn't prohibit a nation building a space base.

The moon's a great resource for nuclear fusion reactors, if only we could develop those a bit faster...
He3 is only found in large quantities on the moon/other planets exposed to solar winds, or decaying nukes. Since getting it off nukes has other issues (1 being you need to have a material used in nuclear weapons which is heavily regulated and/or scraped off an already active device and 2 there simply isn't enough decaying Tritium to supply a theoretical fusion reactor that is constantly running), mining the moon is the next best thing with all the benefits a fusion reactor brings.
It's already been discussed by several countries and corporations developing their own space programs
Don't fall for the HE3 meme. The quality of lunar regolith is pathetic and not worth the expense. And yes, the regolith has absorbed the solar wind over the aeons. Fanatics think the absorbed helium-3 is a prime MacGuffinite, but the sad fact of the matter is that the concentration is so miniscule it really isn't worth it. It would be more profitable to try and extract gold from seawater. Seawater can have up to 44 parts-per-billion (ppb) of gold, lunar regolith has an average abundance of 4 ppb helium-3 http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/mining.php#id--Lunar_Mining

High testosterone brings on a sense of confidence, happiness, purpose, and overall well-being. I believe every man should take steps to naturally raise their testosterone through healthy eating, vitamins, sunlight, and exercise.

Yeah I'm starting to get these popups a lot
Sep7 homepage, on Chrome mobile so I couldn't get the ID thing. I also got a similar one yesterday that was really NSFW too but I'd already clicked a link to open a thread so I couldn't screencap it.
I went ahead and disabled ads for a while, since they seem to be ramping up on the shitty ones. I'll try turning them back on in a month or two.
I still get them

I don't see a point really. I mean building a base on the moon sounds cool as shit, but I don't think we have the technology to actually do such a thing yet, really.
The post above explains why the Moon is basically necessary if you have any interest in Solar System colonisation and exploitation of the asteroid belt. We've had the technology to go to the Moon and set up shop since the 60's, it's just always been expensive. But that's why I'm in support of projects like the Deep Space Gateway. Space travel is a paradox because it's expensive to do so no one tries it. But once orbital propellant depots (space petrol stations) and whatnot are up and running, the sheer potential in the asteroids or gas giants is something you can't really pass up. I've seen analogues drawn to the big railway network in the Western US, and how no one would have settled the west in as great numbers if no one had paid for the infrastructure to get people there. It's essentially the same thing, and a moon base and/ or a network of satellite stations is the perfect tool.

Going to the moon again is retarded and a waste of money.
The moon is actually fairly sensible if Mars is your endgame. Having a station orbiting the moon and using resources from its surface drastically decreases the need to ship everything from Earth. You can also use orbital tethers and mass drivers due to low gravity and lack of atmosphere to further build space stations in orbit at the Earth-Moon L4 and L5 Lagrange points.
I don't what the hell a Lagrange is but yeah a moonbase is not only a good idea but probably necessary to get to Mars any time soon. But my issue is with simply visiting the moon again, I don't think there's much more to see up there.
A Lagrange is a stable point of gravity that exists between two any celestial body and a planet/ moon/ star orbiting it (ex. Sun and Earth or Earth and the Moon). Points L4 and L5 are extremely stable, and for Earth-Moon L4/5, it would cost very little energy to get to them from the moon because they're in the same orbit around the Earth. You can keep a space station orbiting any point but for L1, 2 and 3, you'd need to actively stop the station from drifting away. A station at Earth-Moon L2 would be in a great spot to launch ships out into the solar system. But yeah, the Moon itself isn't the most interesting of places; it's primarily useful as a stepping stone in going to places that are interesting (Venus, Mars, Asteroids, Gas Giants etc). Once you're out of Earth's gravity, you're essentially halfway to anywhere because it doesn't cost much energy to move around the Solar System, and the Moon is a great little refuelling point. It also has water ice and a lot of really nice minerals in the dirt that would work well for industry. I do personally think the moon is interesting but I suppose I can see where you're coming from. It's an airless ball of rock made of the same stuff as Earth. I think the most important things to come out of any moon mission in the next few years will be technological and scientific enhancements in our understanding of how to keep people alive in space.
