Been evacuated by police boat. Luckily, the car was parked uphill so we were able to use it - water was up to the top of my legs and it was bloody cold. Environment agency gave us a flood warning call six hours after the floods started.
Anyway, I'm at my grandmother's house now so I'm alright. Managed to get my laptop out (Priorities sorted there) but I probably won't be able to get home for a couple of days now. 4508

Well it was made EU law a while back that you have the right to get your money back on digital goods you're not satisfied with. Wouldn't be surprised if this passes as well.

Here's a general idea of the layout of the village
To the north, up a hill, is a canal. To the east and south is a big river(it runs around thr village). All the fields around are under and we're at the bottom of a valley. There's only one road out, and that road is unpassable unless you've got an offroader. Basically, I'm fucked. 4512

The Flood / Re: My house is about to flood« on: December 26, 2015, 08:26:05 AM »So, can you get out, or can you literally not 'cause if you open up water is gonna come bursting in? If you can get out, how many directions can you go? It was an exaggeration for "The water is knee-deep outside and I'm getting trenchfoot from trying to walk around in it" 4514
The Flood / Re: My house is about to flood« on: December 26, 2015, 08:23:34 AM »![]() Welcome to Fort Bacon, enjoy your stay Anyway. I've moved to my Grandmother's house for now but we might be moving again because the water's near here. Cellar is knee-deep, drains backed up, choppers everywhere and the dog is bricking it. 4515
The Flood / Re: My house is about to flood« on: December 26, 2015, 06:35:21 AM »Damn. Best of luck to you. Thanks. I'm literally trapped in my house right now, it's getting worse. I'm probably shutting off the electricty in a minute, might be able to post some pictures before I do. On the bright side, my garden can now be used as a rice field. 4516
The Flood / My house is about to flood« on: December 26, 2015, 05:30:24 AM »![]() For those who can't tell what the picture is, that's a farm that I can see down the street. The river here has burst its banks so that field is currently under 2ft of water (Fpr ypu americlaps who don't know, The North has been experiencing very heavy rain for a few weeks now - it's been raining heavy here since yesterday mornng non-stop) A couple people nearby have already flooded, so we've moved all the essential stuff up out of the cellar in case water starts dripping in. I'll probably keep this thread updated until it gets to the point where we have to shut off the electricity. Just thought I'd share my day. 4517

I disliked him when he still sounded like an 8 year old girl
I don't really care enough to listen to his music now. Pop music is a genre I generally dislike anyway, so I probably wouldn't like any of his modern stuff now. 4519

Serious / Re: What is the speed of gravity?« on: December 24, 2015, 04:37:24 AM »So couldn't information which is literally massless travel faster than c? Or is there some universal barrier preventing anything from being any more massless than a photon or graviton?I thought photons were almost totally massless. It's not just to do with the masses. As you accelerate, your perception of time changes so that you alsp experience time quicker in relation to everything else. At C, time around you stops completely. In effect, hitting lightspeed means that before you'd have even begun an instant of travel at lightspeed, you would have lived for an infinite amount of time. If you were theoretically able to achieve a higher velocity, then time would start to go backwards in relation to you. Mass and energy aren't the only factors as to C is the limit. I guess it's not really directly related to your question but a cool tidbit either way. As for the question itself, there's nothing theoretically stopping something having less mass than a photon (Gravitons haven't been discovered, just theorised). We just haven't discovered anything on that scale yet. 4529
