Well, actually you can legally drink alcohol at the age of 16 if your parents are present and they give permission, both in a public place like a restaurant or at home.
It's 18 to buy though. For me, I'm more happy that on my 18th, I'll be able to buy 18 rated games and dvds in a store. I buy a lot of pre owned stuff, so it's useful.
