To be fair, it was a simpler time when all you had to worry about was whether the lord of your country was gonna call his banners and expect you to fight a war with a rusty shovel.

Oh, and dysentry. Can't forget dysentry.

Yeah. I went off intending to catch up on the day's youtube uploads only to find I was being kicked off every ten seconds because I didn't have a disc.

Sorry for bumping, but this is the only ED discussion I've seen on here. What do you recommend doing around 10mil? I've mined, traded regular commodities, and now I'm running rares and doing missions that seem fun (nearby smuggling, mostly). I've never tried bounty hunting, but it doesn't seem very profitable. Currently in trading-spec'd Cobra.

There's this one system that is pretty popular because it consistently gives high-value missions. Can't remember the name but it should be easy to find on google. apparently there's a lot of people going there bevause of this so it's known as the go to spot for missions.

I think it's called Robino or something along those lines

I'm planning on doing Metro: Redux as I recently finished both games. Would I be better off doing 2033 and Last Light separate or together?
No need fam I already got your review for them:

They're crap

Nah

They're far from perfect but they're still pretty good games.

I remember watching a WWII doc and some ME3 music came on. I think it was the track from when Admiral whatshisname boards the Normandy and then you go to war in one of the stupidest space battles in scifi history.

You mean you aren't supposed to fly your ships so close together that any evasive action taken will send them colliding into each other while they fire randomly at their enemies with no care whatsoever for the planet full of people behind them?

Only if you're a nerd who doesn't fire his cannons at random and hope they don't cause a nuclear winter on the planet you're trying to save.

libraries.
Holy fuck I've never considered this as an option
"A librarian" was my response when I was first asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Why?

"Libraries are nice and quiet."

I always looked back and thought that was a funny thing for a little kid to say.

Well, I more meant just doing it until I get into games properly. I used to help around in the school library a couple years ago and it was pretty cool and I wasn't paid for that. I'm a bit of a weirdo like that, I guess.

The other thing is I absolutely refuse to work at somewhere like mcdonalds or kfc or something. I guess I can blame watching that documentary about the guy basically living off nothing but MCD's for a month for ensuring I have little love for fast food.

I liked it. Some of the references to the mess that is the X-Men continuity and his previous 'appearance' in Wolverine were pretty funny.

I didn't realise the woman was also in Firefly until my friend pointed it out after the film. I thought I'd recognised her, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

If you're doing science because you want money, and reward you're not a good scientist

Is it unfathomable that passionate scientists could want to also be able to afford to provide for their families or themselves, plan for the future or retirement, or even be able to continue to do research?

It is unfathomable that people would go into a field because it pays well. I'd expect a good scientist to do what they do out of a passion for the subject and a wish to further our collective knowledge of the world around us. If getting money is your primary reason for becoming a scientist, you should probably think about your priorities.

3716
I love the metro games but the voice acting just removes any seriousness from a tense situation. It's hilarious.

I would have no problem with with payinh for materials if I knew they were going to the guys who did the work. But when most of the money goes to the publishing house, fuck 'em.

The pressure to find a partner in this country is extraordinarily high, and it's kinda sickening.

I can agree with this, even in britain. The look of shock on my parents' faces when I say I'd rather live alone than get married and have kids and shit is pretty disappointing. Especially when my father starts spouting the crap about 'continuing the family bloodline' as though we're a noble house of fucking westeros. Maybe its because I'm an only child, but it's still fucking stupid.

It's even worse when people treat it as "oh, it's just a phase and you'll grow up eventually!" And start being all condescending because apparently you're a silly willy little kid if you don't want to dedicate your life to someone else.

But I wouldn't have a problem with locking off the spawn after you've exited it/ giving a time limit to exit it to stop snipers and AA tanks camping. However, the only map I've ever encountered it as a problem is Zavod. Though honestly, I've never seen jets as a particularly amazing addition to the franchise anyway - they're pretty much the only reason the stinger, AA tank and similar are in the game. Not just that, but the jets are pretty much a separate game to regular BF as you just end up doing circles in the sky. Maybe making attack jets have two people ala choppers would make them better suited for their role by letting a gunner focus on aiming, but I think jets are largely responsible for a lot of the negative changes in recent games. WWII games could handle it better because there weren't any choppers and the planes moved slower making them easier to use and shoot down. Removing jets means that you could remove the stinger and make the IGLA the only AA option (And make stinger a map pickup or something) and nerf the AA tank to make it more suitable for chopper work.

IR smoke has been made a lot more useful recently. Lower recharge, IRNV scopes can't see through it and it lasts a lot longer now. AP feels nerfed more recently, etc. I can't say I have many problems with vehicular combat aside from the scout cars being basically useless.

Honestly, the main problem aside from jets is the amount of redundant equipment. MP-APS, Ballistic Shield, half the grenade launchers, and a myriad of other gadgets are basically useless. However, the weapon balance is nigh-on perfect (Can't think of many times in recent memory where I've died because a gun was blatantly OP -it's usually because of my own incompetance). Vehicle balance still needs a little bit of work but even that is getting there, though jets are still useless as little more than a novelty
