If you get into elder scrolls proper, it's not really much like Tolkein
It's just the surface appearance that gives that impression

2 way SLI on your GPUs would be a good idea to balance out the load if one GPU starts handling most of the data. Presuming you go for two graphics cards.
Otherwise, 16GB RAM would be better as two 8GB cards.
Get a smaller SSD and a larger HDD so you can have your OS on the SSD and your files on the HDD. Best of both worlds.
Your CPU will probably want around 4GHz speed. Elsewise, you're best off looking at what games you want to play now (IE Battlefield, Fallout, etc (I'm assuming)) and use them as a baseline for your specs.

Friends and people you know not even writing happy birthday on your facebook wall.
Do people still do this anyway? I haven't had anyone do that since I was what... 13? 14, maybe?

While we're on the subject, here is a very good analysis of the promotional material, grunt dialogue and other misc bits that has some interesting stuff in it.

I hope 343 doesn't fuck it up again like what they did to it in Halo 4.
That would imply a level of competency they've already proven they don't have.

ryle was the admin of... something, wasn't he
Ryle was the admin of his own secret board, he was a mod on the original Proboards offsites. The only admins on those two sites were True Velox, Kiyo, and I.
I was also a mod on Velox's offsite

I got Halo 5
I mean, I also got destiny but at least the base gunplay on that was pretty decent.

I like both. Though the books have a lot more going on than the show (aegon blackfyre, quentyn etc) so I prefer them on that front because it's more content. I'm looking forward to S6 on monday, though. Looks pretty cool and hopefully a step-up from 5. I'm excited to see Euron.

In an RPG, I care for immersion. I want to role play a character, not a preset one. In a linear shooter or whatever, I want a good player character with interesting backstory, dialogue, voice acting and development. It's why I prefer Halo 4 Master Chief but I'd rather go back to nonvoiced protagonists in Bethesda games.

AI has been in Fallout since the beginning
It's more AI in a human body that thinks it's human that's the issue. JHE, Skynet etc were all fully aware they were machines - Synths think they're human and that's the issue in FO4
sorry, just nitpicking
anyway I don't see what makes AI any different from heroes or zombies. The only difference is AI is relatively new and you're not tired of it yet.
No, the difference is that robots on Fallout are programmed to respond in specific ways to specific situations, where synths are "true" AI that can learn and feel legitimate emotion. That's why a Mr Handy or Sentry Bot stays in one place for hundreds of years, following its programming and guarding it. Why Codsworth waits at your house until the master he was programmed to follow reappears.
There's some ambiguity whether Gen 1 and 2 synths are more akin to this, but it's been confirmed that Gen 3's are human on every mental level.
And what makes AI different isn't that I'm not tired of them yet, its that the market itself hasn't completely been overwhelmed with AI media.
As a sidenote though, AI are a lot more interesting to me than either zombies or superheroes. Both are so boring IMO.
I wasn't talking about generic protectrons and sentry bots. I specifically said John Henry Eden, Skynet, that one AI from Fallout 1 (Name I can't remember) that were all fully self aware. John Henry Eden limited access to him beyond Autumn to maintain the illusion the President was a human for that reason. We've not seen a true AI in a sentry (or whatever) yet, to my knowledge. The ones we have seen have all been stationary requiring massive complexes and power sources to maintain. However, they were still in big computers, even if they were self aware. Synths are the first to have been put in a human body. Honestly, the idea of synths creeps me out. I'm still not sure how I feel about research going down that path.

I loved how they were setting up a human Great Schism, with the NCA being set up as a massive threat to the UNSC. Nice parallel to Halo 2.
And then they didn't even get mentioned in-game.

I've been going on spacebattles.com a lot (Cool place. It's nice to be able to have somewhere filled with people with similar interests), combined with having a bunch of work over the past week
I forgot about here in honesty
Reminds me of my old proboards website. What's it about? Might join.
it's a website for discussion of science fiction and (to a lesser extent) fantasy. There's a lot of creative writing stuff and RP threads but my main thing is technical discussions, as there's a lot of discussion about the scientific and military practicality of a lot of SF stuff like tanks and spaceships and whatnot it's a fairly large site and its been around for a while, I've only recently started using it.

I just want Obsidian to get their hands on it again.
Can Obsidian even do anything with it, though?
Obsidian makes RPGs, first and foremost. Frankly, I don't see HOW you can turn what Bethesda slapped the Fallout logo on into a proper RPG this time. The framework is just not there.
I don't think voiced characters are a requirement of the engine - people are dabbling in stuff without it right now on the modding side of things as far as I'm aware. It's ultimately on the same engine as FO3, Vegas and Skyrim (if modified a bit), they could easily go back to the old dialogue system if they had full access to the code, which they would they could do wonderful things on the Fallout 3 mechanics after all. I think the issue is whether Bethesda would want them to do that. I'm not a conspiracy BTESDA R EVUL kind of guy but I do wonder if they'd allow Obsidian to go back (in their eyes) a step or if they'd be cool with Obsidian going back. I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like voice characters would be a part of the contract, though I wouldn't expect it either. Things like settlements and crafting I don't think would interfere with regular gameplay too much provided they weren't forced on players like in FO4. And I think Obsidian could even take crafting up a notch now the base system is there (Like gunplay in FONV). If Obsidian were given complete creative control, I imagine they could easily remove the voiced protagonist, limited choices and stuff while keeping the better additions like gunplay and crafting. Settlements could be toned down (I think settlements is why there's no quests in the game. Settlements mean less towns, less towns means less quests) and more optional, and even more useful if player feedback is considered. I think Bethesda, not the engine itself, would be the limiting factor in it. But both companies have said they're open to the idea, so I don't subscribe to the idea they hate each other because of the metacritic thing. Ultimately, Beth's next game will be TESVI. We could well be seeing another 8,9 year wait until the next fallout game by them. They have ESO to cover the gap between Skyrim and VI so I wouldn't be surprised if we get another Fallout game to cover the gap.

Fallout fans either use NMA or the subreddits. The official bethesda forums are fairly waypoint-ey in regards to rules (Though the mods don't ban for slightest things, just fairly strict rules), the subreddits are more open. Plus, it's easier to jump in because there isn't a community that has been there for 10+ years.
I use the falloutlore sub for discussion on Fallout. It's nice to be able to discuss the lore without people starting the bethesda a shit arguments.
