The spawn times should be cut in half or at least a quarter shorter and that bullshit where the game shows you the location of the player who killed you should be removed. It's bullshit that players are being punished fore killing other players by a feature which is nothing more than a handicap. I shouldn't have to move from my location due to a feature, I should be moving to due other players spotting me.

Yes, let's make capping a flag impossible because people can blindly spawn as soon as they die and stop the flag beibg taken, as well as remove all sense of urgency from dying because of instant respawn while also gimping the medic class more than it already has been. And along the way buff camping and roofrat sniping because they aren't already powerful enough.

Brilliant plan!

Nah, fuck watching movies on TV. The commercial breaks are longer than the damn movie.

Do you not have dedicated film channels?

OT: Fury Road.
Parents are too stingy with their money and won't pay for HBO, Showtime, etc

Oh

Yeah if you have Sky over here, they have 100+ film channels that just shoe films dependant on genre, as well as special channels that pop up (Star wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter etc) so you can watch a lot of films on there.

Can anyone explain how to rank up in the factions? I understand the basic system of completing bounties, but it seems extremely slow. Any recommended systems to work in, missions to take, etc?

Also, is Robigo smuggling still viable? (Post-update from a while ago, where it's a couple large bounties instead of a bunch of little ones)

Go to a station of your choice, choose a faction of your choice aligned with Feds/ Imps. Grind missions for them in the BGS until you get a mission that says Federal Navy (X). Then you level up. You get more rewarding missions the higher your rep with a BGS faction.

Trading, exploration data and turning in bounties are all also valid too. Though I think they only count with the controlling faction? Not sure there.

As for #2, I don't know, but Sothis and Ceos are both widely regarded as good trading if you want to make a couple million easily. They're about 100ly outside the bubble, between Pleiades and Core, going out towards Jaques.

If you're going for federation and you're hudson aligned, the Federal Privateers are currently taking any help they can get for their BGS faction in LHS 215 (Next door to Nanomam/ Hudson's base), as they got it put in by FDev. I've been playing with them recently so /shamelessselfplug

The Anti-Tank equipment in the game, yet you can't seem to use any of it. Have you tried getting good rather than complaining it about it constantly?
I would say, and this is probably due to the openness of the map, that the effective range of tank weapons is a bit too high. When a machine gunner in a heavy tank can mow me down from the rock bridge while I'm running towards G from spawn, his gun is a little too accurate.
Yeah I'm a bit eh on how pinpoint the MGs can be in the game. The emplaced ones too, it's a bit too tight of a spread.

Mounted MGs, though, are sniper bait. I'd say their power is balanced by the fact you're gonna get killed pretty easily by a rifle because you're not moving. Much better than the BF4 .50's, anyway.

I think Rooster Teeth's video player used to just make you wait 30 seconds to watch a video if you had adblock installed (the adverts were 15 seconds. I don't know if it's still the case (Haven't watched RvB for 5+ years) but I thought it was pretty cool.

Oh, my biggest complaint about the game is spawning.

Way too many times have I spawned on a flag being capped, and I'm totally out in the open. It feels like it's the same for every flag currently being taken. Especially for B, where a tank can just sit on it and mow you down.

It feels like a real downgrade from BF4's system. Well, the UI does in general to be fair, especially the whole "skip revive" bullshit.

They really need to bring back the little screen that shows a squadmate's First-person view so you know if they're under fire or not. Too many times I spawn on a squad mate who is being shot at and die because I wasn't moving.

Running AT grenades and a Light AT grenade can fuck up a landship or a light tank, but you do need your support guys' ammo drops to take care of anything heavier.

I've not really been killed by MGs all that much now I think about it. Not many people are running support.

It's a damn shame they gimped the medic class because they have my favourite weapon class in the game, and the ability to heal.

« on: September 03, 2016, 04:32:43 AM »
Humanity hasn't grown out of tribalism yet. For a globalist society to exist, we need to ditch the idea of our tribes
This is precisely wrong.

Tribalism will be the only thing keeping humanity unified by the time it becomes a spacefaring species.

The concept itself has to be discarded. Otherwise we'll start shooting the second we make first contact.

Ladies and gentlemen, a créme de la créme example of the slippery slope fallacy.

No, we won't. Why? Because aliens aren't human. The concept of tribalism doesn't apply.

Look at nearly EVERY example of fiction we have. If we can't see that we have no tribe, then it's nearly always us vs them.

Where did this very forum come from?

A little game called Halo. Which it the quintessential us vs them story

Yeah but in Halo it was aliens that shot first because they were religious nutjobs. Bad example for your point.

If we want to get super technical here, Lighter Than Some wasn't a religious nutjob.

He was just trying to save his pal from an angry alien attack.

Well it was a guy who found out his empire was about to collapse and the only way to stop that was political scheming and genociding the people who could bring down his empire.

But yeah, using it as some kind of metaphor for a real issue is dumb.

Gaming / Re: Your thoughts on RNG microtransactions
« on: September 03, 2016, 04:27:38 AM »
They're absolute bollocks.

BF4's system was bareable because you could grind it out by getting kills rather than pay money, but then the RNG factor fucked it over.

If you wanted the perfect set of attachments for your gun (functional, not aesthetic pieces like camo), you were at the mercy of the battlepack's dice rolls where you could unlock the target detector (as it says on the tin, pretty fuckin' OP compounded by the fact it was a seperate DLC item), or you could get an x8 scope... for a shotgun...that you haven't unlocked yet.

Same goes for the shortcut bundles they sold, so you didn't even have to play to unlock weapons or vehicle attachments... why bother playing if you didn't have the time to unlock it through effort?

Even Microtransactions in non-f2p games I think are money grubbing, let alone adding a gambling take on it.

At least in Battlefield you can get your faction's Red Dot, Holographic, 3.4x, 4x, bipod, all 3 types of underbarrel, a flashlight and a laser guaranteed by using the weapon. It's only afterwords that battlepacks come in if you want the chinese scope or the russian sight for your M16.

Do you class expansions (IE like what they do in Fallout/ TES with a new area/ quests/ weapons/ armour) in this or do you just mean like map packs and stuff?
The latter is far more egregious, and I hold a lot more contempt for it. But DLC in general is something I've always despised, just on the principle that no one should ever have to pay more than $60 for a complete game. No matter what.

It's a fair enough point, particularly when it's content cut from the original launch (Read: Destiny)

I suppose it depends on your POV. For example, creating expansion content prolongs the life of the game by keeping things fresh, and allows level designers/ prop artists/ environment artists etc to have something to do while the next game is in pre-production (Basic design, engine, concept art and stuff). For a single player game I'd say a good proper expansion that's basically a smaller game in its own right is cool, but stuff like multiplayer maps which are essentially limited time content are a lot more egregious, like you said.

Ones that are easily unlocked and don't affect the game balance itself (Mass Effect 3, arguably Battlefield battlepacks), sure. Ones that give you an advantage over everyone else can fuck right off.

Edit: I'd rather they were fixed items like Elite Dangerous ship skins though. I'd be more partial to buying something when I know what I'm getting rather than a chance I might get something. I don't like gambling and really, RNG packs are gambling.

In general I'd rather buy DLC/ Expansions than microtransactions.

Fusion or bust, eh? You ever heard of the guy who defied the mafia, and chose to win the boxing match? He didn't care about his life, all he wanted was to win, then he could die, but they didn't kill him. They stopped him from living his life the way he wanted, so for 40 years he lived his life miserable; 40 years of living in a dead body. You might be willing to give it all in the moment, but you're gonna have to live with the loss for the rest of your life, so unless you're planning on dying any time soon, don't do it.

I don't see what this has to do with nuke fusion.
I'm not sure if what I had in mind was conveyed into text form, and I'm not gonna read what I wrote because I didn't put much thought into it, but basically, if you put all your eggs in one basket because you're okay with losing your eggs, then once you've lost it it's not game over, you just continue living your life without those eggs. At the time you'd be find with ending your life with the bet, but because it doesn't end after the fact, you're gonna live a sad life because you're never going to see those eggs again. If he puts all his trust in nuke fusion, and it doesn't happen, he's gonna be hopeless. I'm being a bit melodramatic because I'm in that mood, but there is some sagewisdom in this, and it's relevant.

Oh okay. Yeah that makes sense.
