Shit. I remember even as far back as 2014 he wasn't sure if he was going to last too long, and when he was hoping he'd at least live enough to see trump win.

He was a good dude. I used to talk on XBL with him a lot before he stopped being online - you could really hear it in his voice as he eventually couldn't do more than whisper.

Hopefully he's a lot happier now.

I've been watching a lot of Isaac Arthur's videos recently. He does videos talking about space travel, megastructures, alien life and so forth but in a pretty in-depth level.

Ahoy is also pretty cool. I love his animation style for his videos.

I've just played my first match of multiplayer, human adept. Haven't started the singleplayer yet.

I can't say I'm too impressed. I don't know if I was just laggy (I didn't feel laggy but my friend said he's been having lag issues so idk) or what but I honestly didn't find the new gameplay all that satisfying. At least, not as drastic an improvement it had been made out to be. The jetpack feels okay but the boost thing is stupid and I hate it, and the weapons feel completely ineffectual against enemies even on the lowest difficulty. Plus, the hideous HUD/ display has so many confusing elements I genuinely couldn't find where it said my biotic powers had recharged.

"You just need to play more and unlock better weapons" (Because I know someone will say it)

That's hardly an enticing argument. Telling me to play a game that isn't fun to unlock RNG packs that might make the game more fun isn't a good argument to make me continue playing the game.

Of course, I never particularly found ME3's multiplayer all that engaging either so I'm probably not the target audience. But if this is an accurate reflection of the singleplayer I can't see myself playing it for long. It isn't bad per se, just really fucking boring. All of this after one match, so hopefully it's better in the less grindy singleplayer.

I got it for free so I can't complain too much though.

Serious / Re: Robots / AI and Jobs - what about yours?
« on: March 28, 2017, 01:10:02 AM »
Say 20XX does happen and everything gets automated, what happens to everybody financially then? Does Money only circulate between the owners of these Machines/AI or will there still be a way for people with no assets to earn an income?

That's about the point where you're looking at post-scarcity society.

Jobs and money at that point would be a lot different and likepy more based around creative pursuits, scientific research, etc. But even then I think that in a 100% fully automated society, it's likely the concept of working a job would disappear and you'd get some sort of volunteering for your career or something.

Not this cunt again.

>attempted to murder the Lone Wanderer for information that he already knew
>overrode his superior's orders "just because"
>allowed the torture of ED-E
>aside from that just being a shallow villain in general who can turn on a dime just because you tell him that what he's doing is naughty and that he's a bad boy

I'm browsing netflix for the first time in months. Fuck, the library of stuff is bad.

Anyway, please gib recommendations for things to watch

>already seen the marvel stuff except fpr iron fist and... well, I can't be arsed with IF. Plus, I've been getting a bit bored of marvel stuff recently.
>already watched the Expanse, waiting for S2
>already watched rick and morty
>already watched firefly
>already watched stranger things
>already watched better call saul
>clone wars isn't available in the uk

I don't know if I'm just too specific with my tastes and there's actually a bunch of cool stuff on there or if it is all just genuinely shit.

Serious / Terrorist attack on london
« on: March 22, 2017, 10:40:27 AM »
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39355940

Quote
A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament in central London, in what police are treating as a terrorist incident.
Commons Leader David Lidington told MPs the "alleged assailant was shot by armed police".
Staff inside Parliament were told to stay inside their offices.
The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg said police told her someone had been shot and MPs said they heard "three or four gunshots".
Tom Peck, political editor for the Independent, tweeted: "There was a loud bang. Screams. Commotion. Then the sound of gunshots. Armed police everywhere."
Prime Minister Theresa May was seen being ushered into a silver Jaguar car as what sounded like gunfire rang out at Parliament during the incident.
A Downing Street source confirmed that Prime Minister Theresa May was "OK".
Live coverage
Press Association political editor Andrew Woodcock witnessed the scenes unfolding from his office window overlooking New Palace Yard.
"I heard shouts and screams from outside and looked out, and there was a group of maybe 40 or 50 people running round the corner from Bridge Street into Parliament Square.
"They appeared to be running away from something.
"As the group arrived at the Carriage Gates, where policemen are posted at the security entrance, a man suddenly ran out of the crowd and into the yard.
"He seemed to be holding up a long kitchen knife.
"I heard what sounded like shots - I think about three of them - and then the next thing I knew there were two people lying on the ground and others running to help them.
"Armed police were quickly on the scene and I heard them shouting to people to get out of the yard."
'Mowed down'
An eye witness, Radoslaw Sikorski, a senior fellow at Harvard's Centre for European Studies, posted a video to Twitter purporting to show people lying injured in the road on Westminster Bridge.
He wrote: "A car on Westminster Bridge has just mowed down at least 5 people."
Scotland Yard said it was called to a firearms incident on Westminster Bridge amid reports of several people injured.
Transport for London said Westminster underground station has been shut at the police's request, and buses diverted.
Mr Lidington said: "It seems that a police officer has been stabbed, that the alleged assailant was shot by armed police.
"An air ambulance is currently attending the scene to remove the casualties.
"There are also reports of further violent incidents in the vicinity of the Palace of Westminster but I hope colleagues on all sides will appreciate that it'd be wrong of me to go into further details until we have confirmation from the police and from the House security authorities about what is going on."

I guess it was just a matter of time

worst part of this game is that there is still no Harbinger romance option.
Having no Aria T'Loak romance in ME2 and 3 was the biggest mistake of the entire series

I thought it was there in ME3: Omega

You're asking Sep7?
Everything is bad and overrated by this site's standards.

what is this meme I keep seeing

why do you think this

because someone didn't like the thing he liked
Its not that, I gave up on finding common ground with people online when it comes to entertainment. The problem is labelling everything "the worst thing ever" if it has flaws.
If its not perfect, it is absolute shit, the director / developer should kill his family and then drown in his own piss.
off the top of my head both nier and zelda are being enjoyed right now by people in the gaming section even though both games have flaws

He's just mad because Suicide Squid was a bad film
Was Lucy a bad film?

Idk I never watched it, it looked shit though

Speaking of projections...
http://www.futuretimeline.net/

Interesting site there. Nice to read through IMO.

That's pretty cool, though it seems to be a bit more taken with cool than scientific realism. Particularly where it mentiond humans being a Kardashev I civilisation by the 23rd century, and colonies will be rolling on Mercury across the equator to stay in the Terminator Zone (there's a bunch of reasons why this is more effort than it's worth)

Let's just put islam on mercury instead.

Mercury's far too useful. Lets just dump them on a shithole like Venus.

Didn't figure venus was irredeemable either. I'd always assumed it would be put onto the list for later advancements due to a slim possibility of terraforming.

It's the only other solid planet in the solar system with capabilities for supporting an actual atmosphere that wouldn't be too thin or get blasted away because of a weak magnetic field.

All you gotta do is thin the atmosphere like so.

Spoiler

I don't really see terraforming as a particularly viable method or one to pin our hopes and dreams on.

Right now, Venus is a planet that reaches 400oC, and its atmospheric pressure is enough that for purposes of spaceflight applications it's a mini-gas giant. Terraforming requires too many materials and too much energy that I don't think it's going to be something vaguely achievable within the next few thousand years.

It has some small uses in industry. Venus has transfer windows to Mars a lot more than Earth, so tugging Asteroids to Venus for refining, then sending them back out to Mars, Earth or any other world could be an option.

Mars, Callisto, Titan, Luna, Mercury and Ceres are all much easier places to set up shop as you can just dig underground to hide from space radiation. The only thing Venus has is near-earthlike gravity.
