What's so bad about TFL? I haven't looked at it. Is it just a popularity circle jerk or something?

Gaming / I just 1HK'd Rawr the Deathclaw...
« on: August 04, 2014, 06:56:34 PM »
So I'm playing Fallout: New Vegas on Nornal difficulty, Hardcore and I get to Rawr's cave (Lonesome Road DLC)

Bearing in mind my past experiences with this guy, I retreat back to the Gun Runners to stock up. I end up wasting 16,000 on GRA AMR, GRA 12.7mm SMG and all associated upgrades alongside a shit ton of ammo.

So I enter the damn cave, stealth boy up, get a sneak crit and fucking oneshot the thing with the AMR.

All that money... Wasted...

I don't think a virus could create zombies unless it went 28 Day style.

However, I believe it would be possible for some kid of parasite to essentially operate a dead body as a puppet.

I'm slightly above what I guess what would be classed 'normal' but if I elected to, I could lose it. I do a lot of walking (Typically long walks with the dog) but I don't really need to do more than thy to stay how I am.

Then again, that just because I'm a lazy bastard.

Apart from me talking about something irrelevant, I don't care. It's their thing.

If you don't make a scale 12 foot tall Hunter costume that you have to wear stilt boots for, well.........

Imma be sad.

OMG YES

One of these days I aim to do such a thing. Just once in my lifetime I'd like to go to one of those events. Roll on over in my snail all the way from canada.

But I wouldn't go without being damn fashionable. And over the years I've been tinkering with a design in my head. And, as I go along, I'm learning a lot about wood working. I am to make a suit with what I've got available, and there's plenty of wood. And I know how to make thin, non heavy wood works too.

One day.... one day.

You could have a guy stand on your shoulders for a hunter costume and walk round like that.

Na. Gotta make it cool inside and out. Cool on the outside, mechanical marvel on the inside.

I demand pics when it's done.

Share lore pl0x.

Any particular subject/ part of the lore?

Does all of it count as a topic?

Yeah. It will be quite the essay. I'll do an overview instead of going to the in depth history of each weapon, star, planet, faction, battle, species and so forth.

Give me a few minutes.

:D

In a distant universe, a species named the Sh'Kaali evolved and grew to power of god-like qualities. they discovered everything there was to discover and were essentially transsentient. They could not stop the destruction of their universe, but only escape it. As they moved into the space between universes, they grew bored.  They began to create their own universes, using its inhabitants as playthings. One sect preferred to live in these universes in physical bodies rather than spiritual. These Sh'Kaali began to create species on worlds to hunt down for sport, until one-the S'pher- managed to fight back. Hijacking weapons and technology, the S'pher could create hundreds of soldiers for every one they lost and eventually drive the Sh'Kaali from the milky way galaxy, initiating an intergalactic war to rid them from the universe. (Therevare explanations in place for why the Sh'kaali didn't just do a ProBoards on everything)

This was Around 70,000,000 years before present-day. As the Sh'Kaali left this galaxy, they sent copies of DNA that would be designed from the ground-up to fight the S'pher. One such sample was placed on Earth.

-70,000,000 years pass-

In the late 1000's AD, some alien communities would rise up and become a powerful empire in their own right. They had a policy of not interfering with developing species (They knew about humans long before we knew about them. Think Star Trek style) and this often caused heated discussions when a growing species would colonise a world in territory owned by another species. These arguments would escalate into all-out war between the Osmatari, N?enin and Sanpaari against the Thanatus and Menae, including the building of Nova Point (The large orange line with Point 00-07 on the map) which consisted of stars forced into early supernova, their energy channeled as weapons at enemy ships. This war would begin in 2031, and end over two hundred years later.

On the human side of things, solar colonisation would begin with Mars in 2053, and Primus in the Alpha Centurai system in 2114. The UNCE-United Nations and Colonies of Earth- would aggressively expand into the systems surrounding Sol. In the 2160's, tensions on this front would lead to human war with the Colonial Liberation Alliance, starting and ending on the planet Exilion. In 2214, first contact would ensue on the planet of Refuge- in the Fornelhaust system. Humans would be quick to open economic and military aid for alien refugees, eventually entering this war when Refuge would be assaulted by Thanatus fleets. Despite having inferior tech, their outnumbering fleets blasted through insurgent lines and all the way back to the Homeworld, where they forced a blockade for four years. This show of force made many species opt to restructure their devastated military and economy around the structures used by the humanity, who would also transition into the UCE (United Colonies of Earth) and get into ever-increasing positions of power until an eventual restructure happened, the new empire called the Imperium. This period went on until about 2300's.

For the next few hundred years, humans would rule and slowly turn society into a human-centric one, where alien species were often second place to humans. Increased military presence on every planet forced the majority into an unsettled peace, though some secret groups formed a coalition named the Union of Species. All out rebellion was inevitable, until something drastic happened.

In 2654, the S'pher would initiate a brutal assault on Earth. This battle, involving tens of thousands of ships, would culminate in the destruction of the moon and the killing of billions of people on Earth, rendering the planet lifeless and inhospitable. This event (The Fall of The Imperium) would turn the galaxy into lawlessness, as the UOS claimed all out war with the UCE alongside the S'pher. The CLA would reemerge from being pirates and claim they wanted away from the UCE, while several species just enforced action on their borders and stuck to themselves.

Having known rebellion (UOS) was inevitable, a project was started in the 2500's; a system with two Earthlike worlds and lots of ore would be dubbed 'Exodus'- a nuclear bunker for which to flee to in vase something drastic happened. Humans would be safe here as they hid and conducted military operations from this base, mostly using hit and run tactics to retreat from enemy lines as they built new fleets.

In 2702, the Reclamation campaign would be launched. Systems vital for transit between Sol and Exodus would be retaken, allowing the UCE to strike back at the Homeworld. This battle would largely be for a morale boost among troops officially, but there was something hidden in the ice of northern Alaska, where a special operations unit would be sent to take it back, this would uncover several likewise objects of Sh'Kaali origin on several worlds previously unknown and a gateway for the Sh'Kaali to return to eliminate the S'pher once and for all.

The furthest I'm at is 2704, where the book in writing takes place.

That's the condensed version, with a few significant points missed that would take up more paragraphs.
