If i make a certain amount of money... sure.
Selling children would be pretty lucrative, tbh.

Can someone forward an example of a good QTE?
TFU didn't do em bad, I think.
They were just ends to the boss fights in cool semi-interactive movie style kung fu shit.

kinda unsure if this counts, but maybe LoD's combat mechanics once you factor in counters from the enemy as well
YouTube

Definitely pre-dates the modern notion of a QTE by quite a bit though.
That reminds me of something...
Kaim does it at 0:49

I can see how it could be engaging for players if it's integrated seamlessly into the action and doesn't disrupt flow. I suppose I have a greater problem when the game stops so you can press one button before continuing to another cinematic/arbitrary screen to do a similar action. It just takes you out of the moment and makes you realize you're playing a game.

They're not necessary for me and I'm not that selfish, so no.

I'm on a similar page with Verb when it comes to this, but I don't have any intention of dying out without trying alternatives first.

So you've never experienced the usual experience of shadow people, demons, being strangled? That's what mime always consist of
I haven't, just being in a very dark space and being unable to move, but being very aware of my helplessness. I've heard the stories and experiences though but that doesn't dissuade me.
It's not so bad once you get used to it, and especially if you're still relaxed enough that hypnagogic imagery/scenes appear so you can ease yourself into lucidity.

In my case, whenever I attain lucidity one of three things happens:
1.) I wake up because the onset of lucidity occurs directly before waking from my final REM stage
2.) I have a moment of lucidity where I recognize dreaming, but I slip back into the dream.
3.) I actually attain lucidity, but the dream stops functioning and I have to manually control everything (this one's questionable and I haven't had the opportunity to test it much).

Do you induce sleep paralysis or does it just happen randomly for you?

A little bit of both. It really depends on how much I've been paying attention to my dreams/identifying patterns/being generally invested in the dreaming process and hoping for opportunities of lucid dreaming in the state I try to attain. I only experience paralysis when I've been invested in this process for a while (usually from a month to three) and oddly enough, my lucidity occurrences peak around the end of any given month. So I can also somewhat direct, but not control the process. I'm looking for more ways to control the process, but this is only one of my extracurricular projects and all the others are fairly demanding so I have to stop and start constantly.

Unfortunately, our methods of verbalization in all sciences still heavily rely on Aristotelian semantics.
But Psychology is one of the worst areas imo, not to mention all the social biases of what "correct" behavior is and how to treat people medically instead of psychologically resolving problems.

That sounds hot yo

I had sleep paralysis again the other night
Nice. I like sleep paralysis, no joke.
It's how I get to a particular type of lucid dreaming.
Do you lucid dream?
I've never heard of enjoyable sleep paralysis. I think you just had some lucid dreaming and no I've never had a lucid dream only regular dreams and sleep paralysis.
The type of lucid dreaming I like experiencing is definitely sleep paralysis induced (and not just because in REM phase muscle atonia effectively stops motor functions). I can't move and it's very much like being buried alive, at least that's what I first thought of the experience. But then I monkeyed around with it and it produces a very vivid and auto-generated type of lucid experience.

Hmm, I'll probably be put into a psychiatric hospital and that would be that.
Oh god that would be awful.
They're not fun places to be, especially when you can't rely on medical professionals to do their fucking jobs >:(

When used in lieu of gameplay it strikes me as lazy design.
The only thing I imagine it being good for is intense, cinematic sequences... But even then you can use gameplay if you have enough ingenuity as a designer.

Can someone forward an example of a good QTE?

Sailing off to an island of women on a boat filled with dildos is pretty damn epic.
Also using your wife's undergarments as a sail isn't half-bad either.

that's not common knowledge

Do people just not listen to the lyrics?
I thought it was common knowledge... I mean the lyrics are every __ you __ I'll be watching you. Pretty creepy tbh fam.

Let's just get this out of the way; people know that Don't Stand so Close to Me is about a teacher with a crush on his underage student, right?
You might have that around backwards

"Young teacher, the subject
Of schoolgirl fantasy
She wants him so badly
Knows what she wants to be
Inside her there's longing"

"Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him cry"

"It's no use, he sees her
He starts to shake and cough
Just like the old man in
That book by Nabakov"

I think it's both actually.
I'm guessing Nabakov is a reference to Lolita.
Well that sets off creeper alarms in my head.

is there any proof that lucas did not originally intend for luke and leia to be siblings
Don't they kiss at some point?
Maybe that.
As cringeworthy as that part is, that's only because they didn't know at the time.

Which I guess doesn't negate the idea that Lucas could've thrown it in in RotJ, but whatever.
It makes sense, it works in the story, so it's not like it's a big deal.
It was the only thing that really came to mind, I don't think it's scandalous either.
Why do you ask?
