Basically this. I'm not as friendly anymore, and I have a tendency to take pot shots at people when I would've never done that before. I took the effort and time to try and talk to and help people who seemed to be going through rough times, just as others did for me. I don't do that anymore. It's not so much to be antagonistic as it's more for just cheap laughs.
I've also noticed that about myself, but that's also in response to personal developments offline too >.>

For myself, it's about the contrast between enjoyable and lamentable aspects of some media that rely heavily on reference.
For example, I like things like this ironicallybecause it makes satirical comment on anime tropes; I think it's humorous that way. Not to mention the character I identify with most in this show religiously worships this idol, which is both hilarious and tragic.
People who don't get the reference don't really understand it because they don't have investment in the joke.
It's like if a critic watched Birdemic without knowing it was intentionally awful, they'd wonder why people even bothered watching the movie.

I notice my earliest forum days filled with more thoughtful posts, and over time I've lowered the bar enough for a limbo player to have difficulty keeping their legs intact.
I also used lime green font and I'm not happy about that. Actually, when I started using orange text was when I started lowering my standards and not being as polite.

I can't remember. There was one time when I accidentally took a ball home from a toy shop as a kid and felt guilty about it until I begged my stepmom to bring me back so I could return it.
Now if I really need something but don't have or want to spend money, I'll do it.
