Why aren't you living on your own in an apartment
BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE CAN LIVE OFF DADDY
When I lived in dorms they were more expensive than living in apartments.
Housing expenses in my area are really high, too.
what were the main differences?
If you get an apartment or home with other people you split expenses. Most 2nd year + students don't live on campus because they can just do this. First years are kind of SOL if they're out of state or live too far away because they don't have any friends to live with, that's partially why they choose dorms.
If you rely on the university for meal plans that adds up (more so than buying groceries), as well as residential programs. You don't necessarily have as many amenities if you go off-campus, though. I was in a Residential Academic program focusing on communication and I received "free" tickets to events and dorm sponsored programs.
Since I'm antisocial unless prompted, you can imagine how that turned out.
Also, people are fucking disgusting. The dorm bathrooms were atrocious and I refused to shower on campus.
dayum son

I opted for a more expensive dorm room but at least I have my own shower and toilet. I'm going to buy a toilet seat too so I can replace the one already there. Private accommodation would probably work out cheaper for me too but I don't really know anyone so I sort of have to use dorms but at least they provide me with Internet, cleaning equipment and a meal ticket which I can use at the university restaurant for either breakfast lunch or dinner. Not too shabby.
I'm just kind of curious, how much are they charging you for that?

How are people judging a movie by vague posters?
I really don't know, unless they didn't like the first movies and are projecting that on the sequels (which is also ridiculous).
People judge a lot of things from vagueness. It makes advertisements that much easier to promulgate, and it's also why we still have overhyped games..

Wolfenstein: ET clan forums.
I've always avoided VG clans with a 10 mile restraining order.
That's probably because I had xbox live
And "clan" always reminded me of these holiday confused gentlemen
Their vernacular didn't improve this image.

Well Metroid Prime has a lock-on system, but no controlled camera (unless you literally stop moving).
I personally like the Metroid: Prime shooting style, just wish I could turn around a bit faster.

You could also try out TF2.

Bnet forums were the first that I frequented. I was a Reachtard so once the game came out I made an account and posted around in the Reach forum until I decided to check out the Flood.

After that my life just started going downhill
Replace Reachtard with Desticle and you're me.
My life went downhill for reasons unrelated to the forum, though.

And you forgot Amazing Mirror, OP.

Like... not as many gimmicks?

It was... actually kinda nice, in that respect. Aw, now I'm getting all nostalgic.
I feel similarly about Skyrim Guild.

when you're drowning in crap for hours and hours, with a rare good find here and there, is where it becomes an annoyance.
This describes my general Borderlands experience.

I usually have good dreams and without using a journal I can remember 2-3 per night upon waking, with recording 4-6 per night.

That's also the result of research and practice.

Majora's Mask is my favorite LoZ game and I'm not even finished with it.
I love the themes, the gameplay mechanics, the characters, the settings, it's just amazing.

Typically you hear people talk about OoT or Windwaker as their favorites. A Link to the Past if it was one of their first games or Twilight Princess if they haven't played MM.

What did you do there?
How was it different socially?

I was obsessed with the release of Skyrim before launch, so not only did I join a forum, I wrote fanfic for the site.
Reading those back over now is unsettling, but those early memories are some of my best forum experiences.
Since I was one of the first few to join I was considered one of the old guard after a while and given an honorary title for looking into Dwemer history.
That... is just inconsequential to like everything now and was pretty much a waste of time

The Skyrim Guild was primarily focused on game related topics, and moderation was stricter. Everyone was fairly polite.

So, uh, have they made any real progress yet?
no.
And unless they start using cheats or cooperating, they won't be.
Even if they did there's stream lag and allocating leveling points would be inefficient at best. Late game would be hellishly arduous.

The Flood / Re: Forgiveness
« on: August 13, 2015, 04:42:01 PM »
I easily retain grudges. I'm not very forgiving.

That point is usually reached when someone proves themselves to be an influential idiot (in the sense that they could understand something but don't to protect their opinions whilst suppressing mine).
It's something I'm trying to work on because it bleeds over into other areas and isn't beneficial on a personal level..
