At least eat it so God's blessings do not go to waste.
This proposal seems quite modest. Remember that a child just dropped from its dam may be supported by a woman's milk for a solar year with little other nourishment
Thank you Mr. Swift, beautiful proposition.

likes necrobumping old threads for some reason
Blame boredom and my lack of interest in front page topics. I can only make so many new threads until it starts looking like I'm spamming.

How fun would it be having a Sep7 D&D group?

It would probably just devolve into a shutter version of Oglaf, on second thought.

I could easily have not existed at all and just been a ghost

But yeah, being dead in all but a name for two years is perhaps a little depressing.
Oddly enough, this is precisely how I want to operate at my institution. I don't want anyone to remember me.
Indeed, I mean preferably I'd spend the next two years as a ghost as well but unfortunately I think I'm going to be obliged to prove my existence at some point which is uh... fun.

Equally though, I'm not half as depressed/anxious as I was a year ago so eh. It's more of a 'alright fine, let's get this over with' at the thought of speaking to the tutor/class rather than 'just kill me now'
I'll be in a similar boat soon enough (if I get my shit together). First though, I'd like to straighten my priorities. Considering I know what I want to do I just have to plan a track to researching.
The amount of field experience (and social connections) I have to endure is dependent upon which company I join or make. First I want to know exactly where I'm going, then plan around that.
I'll likely make a decision to switch institutions to better fit my curricular interests, so I have to jump through more hoops, but it's also part of the reason I'm not making any social ties. I probably don't have to at this stage.

And same, I'm nowhere near as miserable as last year and hopefully I can avoid that altogether from this point onwards.

I like Star Wars and I honestly keep forgetting that 7-9 is going to be a thing.

Episode 7 just looks so meh that I can't even be bothered to keep track of it.
Behold... The amazing captain PHAAAAAAASMA

Other than that though I don't understand why it's meh. I'm also not up to date on 7 stuff. So...

When people make threads with post responses incorporating external media, do you avoid posting on topic because of the effort, or because it just isn't appealing?

Mostly the latter, but a little bit of the former (especially when I have a perfect image in mind that I can't find).

If I say "Twin Towers" however, most people don't immedately think of Tolkien :(

i dont think thats really a bad thing though
But it was an awesome movie :(
Contrasted to an awesome event in US history.

Nope!

I'm gonna just get like, cats or something

lots of cats
I want wolves.
On a private estate.
That hunt trespassers.
No one's gonna want to trespass on a house full of cats
We don't consider cats as viable foodstuff in the US... But... That doesn't change my ability to eat them... And their relative inability to do much about it.

It's useful for exploiting people, however.

Usually with my stories, a vivid scene will pop into my head, and after that I attempt to think of something compelling off of that.
Sometimes this also happens to me, especially if I'm listening to music.

I constantly hold myself back from doing what's necessary in little ways, I guess.

I have the ability to change this and I'm attempting to do so.
However, there are some things I know what to do (generally) to save time and effort, but they're difficult to execute.

Edit: Overall I've come to view things much differently than I did even 6 months ago; I'm not particularly depressed about my issues but more often want to overcome them.

The only dream I can remember is one I had a good few years ago. Four or five.

And the only thing I learned from that is that my eyes will never live long enough to see what I saw there if it were possible.
Was there awesome space stuff?
The suit was insulated and filled with a chemical like water, but more insulating, keeping things warm. I could breathe oxygen through the liquid like I was breathing normally.
That reminds me of LCL in Evangelion, it's similar except in the anime it's used as a medium to synchronize neurally with the mechs.

I'd very much enjoy living to the real space age.

Studio Ghibli films
I forgot these in my previous response.
I love Ghibli films (generally, Tales of Earthsea is a thing after all).

Ghibli films are food for the best part of the soul.

I actually wanted to see that movie, but most of the reviews said it's one of the worst films put out by Studio Ghibli. What's your opinion of it?
Honestly, I didn't mind it that much. I watched it with a friend and we made dinner so that enhanced the experience. The animation was beautiful and it was refreshing seeing scenery a little out of the ordinary for Ghibli films. However, the characters were lackluster. I don't have strong impressions of any characters and the villain is far from intimidating or engaging. It's like a painting with an impressionist background contrasted against a cubist foreground.

Miyazaki's son directed the film and after his father saw it he told him to stop making films. I'm glad he didn't listen though, because he went on to make From Up on Poppy Hill (with his father as co-writer) and I really enjoyed that.
Miyazaki's a harsh critic of anime and I think that depreciates Earthsea's value as an animated film. Anything with a Ghibli moniker has an expectation of excellence, and since Earthsea wasn't it was penalized harshly, perhaps more than it deserves. If you like seeing other worlds it's not a bad choice, though something like Children Who Chase Lost voices has much similar appeal with better execution.

Ok, appreciate the opinion. I heard that story too about his son making it, and how it was a useful learning experience ultimately.

I might check out that suggestion, since I'm out of anime films to watch. If it's from the creator of 5 Centimeters Per Second, then it's bound to have something great going for it.

If by any chance you're out of anime films to watch, I'd highly recommend "Mind Game". It sodomizes in your mind in the most euphoric way possible >>
I haven't seen that one yet. I'll try to check it out.

The Flood / Re: Has anyone else given up on watching movies?
« on: October 13, 2015, 04:23:49 PM »
Watch something that fucks with your mind

Examples

"Paprika"
"Mind Game"

or just look for one of those hidden gem movies. There's always a spectacular film out there waiting to be seen.
Also, Perfect Blue. It's also a Satoshi Kon film like Paprika, but it's more psychological.

OT: I only watch movies occasionally now, the forms of media I stick to are dwindling away progressively.
I don't even watch much anime anymore... Or more like right now, anyway.
