The Flood / Re: How Many Of You Can Whistle?
« on: September 03, 2014, 04:17:50 AM »
The best I can manage is a really weak and crappy whistle. That being said I can do that whistle/flute thing where you cup your hands together and blow into the hole made by your thumbs, so I guess that's something.

Wait, are you telling me that there are people out there who actually use cheques at the shop? Why not just use a debit card instead and save everyone the trouble?

The Arbiter, he has badass looking armour, a more interesting personality, and his missions in Halo 2 were a lot of fun.

What. The. Hell. Those must be exactly the same thing.
Wait, are you telling me you've never seen Savoys before?

Although to be fair they are very similar, but Savoys are a bit crunchier and I think they they taste better.

I'd hate to see what that would do to someone because it looks pretty nasty.

My favourite colours are ones that fit well without clashing with surrounding colours.

Don't get me wrong, I love Nutella on sandwiches and toast and all that, but I don't know how some people can just eat that stuff straight on it's own, it just seems sickening to me.

The Flood / Re: Gladius problem
« on: August 29, 2014, 09:37:56 PM »
True, it's got a decent shape to chop someone's shoulder or head with, but if you look at something like a Kopis or Falcata, you can tell with one look that those were designed to chop someone past their shield.

Spoiler
I'm not trying to argue, by the way, I just like discussions about this kind of stuff.
That is true, I would say that forwards curving blades like the Kopis, Falcata, Khukuri, and Yatagan are some of the most devastating chopping weapons around, but the downside to them is that they wouldn't be as nimble as a straight sword due to them being more forward weighted like and axe or hammer.

Spoiler
I agree, I always enjoy a good discussion.

You could chop with it, yes, but I don't think that was an intended use until the hispaniesis with it's narrow body and wide head. I'd argue that the broad surface of the gladius was to maximize damage from a stab wound.
I guess that would make sense, after all thrusting would be easier to do in tight formations and a wide blade would give a bigger stab wound, but what I'm saying is that the design seems to also have cutting in mind, specifically the fact that they widen towards the tip creating an excellent chopping point for when an opponent exposes an arm or leg in battle. So yes the gladius was mostly used to stab, but it would have also been a very effective cutting sword as well, which is a good thing because it makes for a very versatile weapon that can be used in whatever way the situation required.

it's fun as hell to test these swords on my invasive bamboo grove, although the gladius is primarily a thrusting weapon. It's just a hobby of mine i guess, I like this shiet.
I would argue that the gladius would be very effective at both cutting and thrusting, the very acute point would be excellent for thrusting, but the broad blade and slightly curved edges would make it very effective for chopping.

Also out of the ones you listed, I would go with 1 or 3, Albion are are great choice when it comes to swords but they're also very expensive. I've had my eyes on a particular sword from them (specifically this one) for quite some time but I just haven't had the funds to obtain it.

A piece of crap that might as well be a potato with a coat hanger stuck in it, which is bad enough, but when you combine that with my shitty internet that is even shit by Australian standards, you end up with a connection that barely holds itself together.

I thought it was serious as I started reading but quickly realised how absurd it was as I continued. But it was still amusing at the very least.

« on: August 26, 2014, 09:16:44 PM »

My favourite games of all time are Oddworld Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus.

I prefer Abe's Exoddus since it took what made Abe's Oddysee good, and improved upon it to make it better, but both of them are still great games.

30. I wasn't even aware that you could change it until now so I'll probably change it to 25 since 25 just seems like a more appropriate number to me.

The Flood / Re: Do you like cold weather?

I don't like the cold and I don't like hot weather either. Anywhere between 19 and 24 degrees is the ideal temperature for me. I will say though that I would rather put up with cold weather over hot weather simply because it's easier to warm up than it is to cool down.
