I only play Sona,
Janna is by far the best support right now. Followed by Thresh and Annie.
Sona is extremely squishy and doesn't allow for agressive engages early
Then don't engage aggressively early.
Sona is made to sustain your adc during early, not be a bomb. Buy mana regen and spam W while your adc pokes.

How am I a detriment with only one?
Because sona doesn't fit every role.
She's easily countered and everyone and their mother gets pissed when someone says, "I can only do X" during champ select.
meh, i'm still getting used to League.
Good, start to learn all the roles now so it's not jarring when you're in draft pick and you're forced to jungle.
eh, jungling is fun in DotA 2 so I don't see a reason it wouldn't be in League.
