it really isn't
if you think value is subjective, there is no conversation to be had value is objective
lets say you have a system based on laborpoints. Value is measured in laborpoints. Now how the fuck do you determine how many laborpoints a thing is worth? Do you have some kind of algorithm that incorporates physical strain, time spent, emotional wear, mental wear, etc?

sure, if you like exploiting people
is there a more reasonable way to determine value? Value is subjective, after all.

Hurr dee hurr de he durrrr muh warmongers overspending draining the economy for dumb tanks and bombs.
American hegemony and force projection are part of why this country is as powerful and successful as it is. You don't remain the leading player in geopolitics without maintaining a military edge.
Do I think it's right? No, I don't think any state is right. I don't think militaries are moral or ethical. I don't think institutions whose authority is based solely on their ability to apply lethal force should exist at all.
However, that is the reality of the world we live in right now, and will likely remain the reality long after we're dead. Given what we've got, I'm very glad it's the US wielding the biggest stick, and not China or Russia. I'm not very keen on seeing either of them climb to the top of the pile, and I would think you'd feel the same way.

Value of what.
literally anything. In a market system, demand is what determines value.

I think we should try privatising infrastructure in some areas. Just as a test. I see a bright future in privatised roads and bridges.
You don't see the possibility for corruption?
I don't see how private corruption is nearly the threat that government corruption is. Can you elaborate?

I have a lot of trouble seeing how Christianity can make people happier. The idea of an unending, infinitely powerful dictator is terrifying to me.

I'm not even from the US and can see the steady trend of all weird shit coming out of Florida.
I've heard it has a lot to do with the police records in Florida, where everything is public. At least, as I understand it.

Not sure if this is good or bad... it sounds bad. If they are going to replace/have a localised reform of it, it better be fucking good as at the moment it's just going to alienate the UK further from the EU.
>implying distance between the UK and EU is a bad thing

It is appaling that we, as a people, have allowed the state to amass as much power as it has today. Frankly, I think we deserve all of the damage that is done.
Gonna be honest, this makes me think you didn't really read my post, since it specifically discusses how it hasn't done damage, and is debilitated by regulation and stagnation.
It has done no visible damage yet.

One of my conservative teachers actually surprised me (and the rest of the class) by supporting the NSA. His reasoning, which I actually agree with, was: "If you have nothing to hide, why are scared?"
I can definitely understand why people want their privacy 100% secure, but I suppose I'm just a tad apathetic to the whole thing.
I think that's a very poor argument. It implies the NSA has far more power than they actually do. In reality, we don't need a justification for wanting privacy, so we enact regulations to ensure that it's protected at all times unless its violation is necessary to prosecute a crime
But then, wouldn't that argument make sense? If you're not doing any wrongdoing or making stupid posts like #ImGoingToKillObama, then you wouldn't even be on the NSA's radar.
And how exactly would you know this?

The pro gun Republicans are pro gun and play the underdog "Obama is a tyrant" card for the ignorant rednecks because they've received large amounts of money from gun companies. I know it's not representing every gun person but it's still in the same line of thinking has these people that have a hard on for guns. I was looking at a gun magazine and it was talking about Obama wanting to ban those green tip bullets. The article was saying or implying that if these bullets get banned then it's going to cause a domino effect which would result in every bullet getting banned. Even though it's only a single type of bullet the person that did this article was talking about the only way to save our gunz is to have a pro-gun president.
Gun control in this country has always been inches-into-miles. We've given far too much ground already and we've learned from that. The gun community cannot afford to give any more ground to anti-gunners. First it's automatics. Then it's semi-autos with scary-looking features. Then it's semis with >10 capacity. Then it's all guns withn >10 capacity. Then it's handguns. Then all semis. Then all we've got are bolt-action rifles and you make it prohibitively difficult and expensive so that only the rich can afford them, and we're fucked. Not. One. More. Inch. Green tip is targeted because it's the most abundant round for the most popular fighting rifle in the country, and it is in the interest of the powers that be that these rifles are crippled with ammunition too expensive to obtain in abundance. The goal of weapon control is and has always been to remove power of force from the common man, and concentrate it in the hands of the ruling class.

It's good in the sense of responsible people who know how to use a gun can better protect themselves and feel more safe now.
It's bad because the mentally unstable and criminals can now open carry, therefore giving them the illusion they have more freedom, which leads to more violence.
I think the negatives out weight the positives a bit.
>criminals >being alllowed to own guns.

Open carry should be legal, but, honestly, I think it's really fucking stupid if Concealed is an option.
