Not to mention, you must realize that eyewitness testimony is the lowest form of empirical evidence, especially since his helmet can vastly contradicts his testimony.
Then there's the other factor of Del Rio not wanting to lose the ship, and cost humanity something that they nearly lost the Covenant War just to build.
that is true, I just think the whole situation was delivered a bit roughly in the game..
They wanted the players to hate his character, I'm pretty sure.
