Can you describe the behavior of the animal after he bit your dad?
He acted like it didn't happen.
Was his tail down? Did he show any submisive/dominant behavior?
I wasn't in the backyard when it happened but I think my dad had to hit him so he could let go.
He didn't really describe it.
Hmm, sometimes dogs do just "do" things and need to be destroyed.. It doesn't seem like this was out of the blue though

Y'know, dogs aren't just things. They don't get destroyed. They get killed because they have lives. And often times lives worth more than people.
Ehhh I wouldn't say worth more than people, all conscious animals have equal worth in my mind.
Some dogs just like some people are a danger to those around them. While I'd hate to see even the most violent of dogs killed, in this situation it's probably what's going to happen.
Well of course the dog is going to be killed. Because one accident must mean the dog is absolutely and must be put down. Because people never make mistakes in harming others.
This is why I mean they can be more important than people. Because they don't try to play God and determine who's life is worth ending.
It seems as if any animal with apex intelligence would play god, I see what you're saying but I don't think one sentient animal's life can be seen as more valuable than the other. If a dog attacks it's family, whether they be human or dog, it will be killed/ostracized. I'd rather see it trained against violent behavior, and if jono can change the outcome he should
