This update is actually very impressive.
GTA online is developing nicely. Loads more features them when it first came out. Way too late, of course, but still. 273

Gaming / Re: What would happen if Halo 5 is a total flop?« on: March 09, 2015, 02:17:20 PM »Sorry I slipped on the quote button, phone is small.QFF faggotlolnoUmm, yes. Everything I said in my post is true. Trend setter VS trend follower Older style halo and call of duty formulas are much different than their current installments. Each had a unique formula and a unique crowd. There was no wrong answer when choosing what series you wanted to play. Everyone could argue about their favorite title yet no one would be swayed, besides a handful, because of these unique differences. I personally played a good amount of call of duty but preferred halo. Older style halo focused on slower paced action. Nailing head shots was satisfying yet the sandbox offered vehicles and power weapons to add variety. Call of duty used faster paced action, incorporating sprinting and short kill times. It rewarded reaction speed. Both obviously awarded awareness by utilizing radar and sound. Halo jumped into the multiplayer game slightly earlier. When Call of Duty first went modern we saw the first shift in massive, popular Titans of industry. You can argue who did what first, from Quake to Doom. Yet no one gives a shit, because triple AAAs sell and popularize different gameplay mechanics because of their large crowds that swallow the casual and hard core player alike. As expected, the eventually copy and paste debates begin once companies take their popular titles and ship out multiple installments for profit. The truth is, you can argue about one title = another but it's all bullshit until you analyze long standing trends in gameplay. Most of the time you can trace different appeals in gaming by looking at smaller, less obvious features or tests of the past. Halo Reach useless boost armor ability =\= Halo 5s incorporation of more "fluid" movement. When Bungie incorpated these armor abilities, while largely received by negativity, they were demonstrating deeper understanding of futures trends. They do not equal the modern movements we see in AAA today but they are precursors. Bungie has been a trend setter. You can pull smaller older titles from the grave and claim they did it first, but you could also argue those ideas were wasted until a AAA developer rose them from the dead. The halo series succeeded because it was run on trend setting. It started with amazing multiplayer and interesting story. It evolved into other social aspects like theater mode and forge. These creations extended the life span of some Halo games by years, sprouting non stop custom lobbies and entertainment. Call of Duty is often criticized because it lacks that very nature. The closest it got to innovation was a modern setting and zombies, which also extended its life span. Obviously the underlying nature I spoke of before (people preferring the game type that fits there personality) is still relevant. I personally enjoyed halo not because of "halo 2 kill times!" but because it created new and interesting games. Recently Halo has become a trend follower. They copied the recent evolution of faster movement because others were doing it, like call of duty, not because 343 wanted to be more creative. Halo is an old dog attached to a rusty chain that Microsoft is trying to teach new tricks. Bungie realized this long before any of us did. They took their creativity and forged their own game which is now showering them in dough. Why? I mean, Bungie is completely alienating their old fans and being greedy assholes. It's the whole reason this site exists. But they are setting trends. They didn't invent addiction, or RNG, or multiple class abilities, or Destinys fluid movement, or raiding, or...you get the idea. But they sure as hell were the first to put those together into a melting pot of "just another dull shooter vacuuming up millions". The current Halo doesn't = COD today. It's not if you look at the small picture. However, it's going to! I'm not pissed becaused "hur dur my moooovemtn is cod!?!". If I'm lazy I'll just type that up...but it's s lot deeper than that. Like COD, halo is glueing modern elements onto an old, worn out frame and it looks like a piece of shit. Does 343 have the balls to just outright change the game? Or should I say Microsoft, because 343 is basically Microsoft. I don't think so. They are gonna keep being a child (a rich one) glueing pieces onto dirt. Honestly, Halo 5 has made the most change but it's all shit I don't eant, way too late, and I'll say it again...with no creativity. Microsoft has proven they want to adopt the bad, not the good. Example? MCC. They absorbed the modern trend of releasing half assed hype and falling back into their money. Like this is some high school reading circle of The Great Gatsby and Microsoft decided they wanted to be rich and reckless. 343 puts a great effort into fixing it but Microsoft owns their ass, you shouldn't expect any change anytime soon. Hell, I stopped giving a shit about he extended lore after Traviss fucked with the books. Its been one small step at a time but I've given up. You can keep arguing your stats and movement but I honestly don't trust the brand any more. I'll list what I don't like, you'll respond with "but it can be turned off", I'll buy it and get the game. Then I'll be disappointed and angry that I fed the stupidity. My 60 bucks might mean shit to Microsoft but whatever. Maybe enough people will stop defending this crap, stop enjoying the useless debates about what's changing and Halo can finally RIP. I'm stubborn in this belief, just as stubborn as you are in yours and I expect little to change. You're smart enough to make a good debate which is why I put his amount of effort in (even though you just think I'm a "faggot". Sorry if I offended with my short thought responses I was just replying fast after a long school day. Overall, I really hope 343 and Halo 5 proves me wrong but I doubt it. 289

It's just another run of the mill FPS. I feel the movement, abilities, gun variety, and social aspects take the FPS genre and mash it with new and addictive qualities. It's potential is much greater than old generation shooters. The evolution of COD and Halo (which is almost identical and getting to the point of being different skins) proves they are having difficulties grasping the bridge between old and new. I dunno, I don't see any creativity in Halo like I do in Destiny. Even if Bungie is going down a shit road it's obvious what they need to fix. 296

Say what you will about Bungie, their decisions all make sense now. Destiny's multiplayer (at least it's gunplay) feels next gen. They understood Halo wasn't going to last and jumped ship at the right time. I might buy 5 for the campaign, maybe. I'll enjoy MCC once customs pick up...if they do. 297
