I saw this a week ago and thought, "Ha! Nice try, Meta, you can't bait me when I'm banned!" ...But then I thought about it, and I generally agree. I just hate the connotations of the phrase 'world policeman'. To hell with us if we're just going to let Moscow or Beijing or other folks go unchallenged. Though, the US needs to pick its battles, or at least not fuck up the ones it does choose. Quagmires and lying campaigns associated with events like the invasion of Iraq make the public more reluctant to support intervention when it's actually relevant to our interests (eg: the national security threat posed by ISIS). The president making a new line in the sand whenever the old one gets crossed is a farce. Both of those undermine our authority. I can't say I know all the answers here, but I'd just like to have a good foreign policy president for once.

It shouldn't be. You should only have one job as a moderator -- and that is, to moderate. It isn't your job to represent the community, let's get a community manager if that's what you want.
Staff is supposed to represent whatever they're staffing. I can't think of any job, real life or not, where staff had no obligation to represent their organization.

Or when you basically stalked Septy and nearly made him quit the site? You have a long history, most of it negative. This is very much not cherrypicking on my part, and we all know it. I think you should separate what Verbatim says from what he does.
Just because he tells users to kill themselves after a lengthy amount of "debate" doesn't mean he'd ban them out of frustration given the opportunity. I mean, we've seen him exercise a high-level of self-control in the past, like when he gave up swearing for a few months at a time.
I just hate this notion that mods aren't allowed to have personalities or get into heated debates. That's what makes LC so unbearable for me.
