We are looking at all our options and seeing what will benefit the forum the most. That's all I can say right now, as the staff will continue discussing plans tomorrow and into Monday, most likely.
>he colorized his text to make himself look more important

Dude, you have some sort of pity position on the staff of an obscure forum on the Internet. Calm down and stop acting like a spokesperson for the president of the United States.
Icy outranks me and Kitsune, FYI.
Yeah in being a fucking faggot.

We barely even need mods, let alone monitors and a "Content Monitor™".
He literally writes the rules.
He words them, very different thing.
And one that sort of shows the rest of the staff either just can't do it or don't care to do it properly themselves.
He's the most qualified (a journalism major IIRC) and he's been doing it for the longest time consecutively. We're not going to fix what isn't broken.

Being a scribe doesn't give him an excuse for being pretentious and taking this so seriously.
Why Icy has regular-colored text:

[8/30/15, 7:47:37 PM] Cheat: The problem with that is that blue text is used to differentiate between links and regular text.
[8/30/15, 7:47:47 PM] Cheat: IIRC that's why I never made the text blue.

Calm your tits.

He literally writes the rules.
But does he come up with them?
The entire staff has a part in deciding the rules of the forum, so yes.

Halopedia isn't the prettiest but it was always better than the Halo wikia tbh. Now that I think of it, wow, you're right, wikias suck. It particularly bothers me when the Elder Scrolls wikia is the top result over the all-around superior UESP.

I just hate when they're more than one and I'm supposed to choose or something.

There's zero evidence to suggest that private prisons are any better than state or federal prisons, but rather they're easy money for the snake oil salesmen who own them. Requirements to fill up all of the beds in prisons (they get 100% occupation guarantees when they build these things) have given the US one of the world's highest incarceration rates (more than Russia or Cuba, to put that into perspective). The private prison industry is one of the largest lobbying groups in the country, and it's because they've successfully lobbied for stricter sentencing guidelines (it is financially beneficial for them to do so) that got us into this mess in the first place.

Nearly everything about them reeks of corporate interests, and making a profit/justifying the costs of prisons should not be the bottom line of our justice system.

Spoiler
was the ending leaked?

Potentially, but I doubt it.

To be honest, we don't really know.

Me meticulously analysing every ounce of trailers gives me a decent indication of what he spoiled, though.

To be fair, this is otherwise a very good port, if Ground Zeroes is any indication.

I just... I'm afraid to ask, but...

1) Monitors already fulfill that role, and they're not limited to one board.

No they can't. Last I checked, you can't edit/remove people's posts.

2) I can't speak on behalf of the upper staff, but that sounds awfully draconian and will probably never happen.

How?

Just a friendly reminder that going dark is the only foolproof means of avoiding spoilers.

I already addressed this. I wanted someone to take the reins from me so I could go dark but no one stepped up, so I felt responsible for it.

Excuse me for giving a shit about the community.

This came off as harsh Kupo. Sorry, I still like you but I'm frustrated.
Yeah, I understand. I'm not happy about this situation either, but I'm trying to help manage expectations and calm people down. Despite what it may look like from the outside, we actually have entertained the various ideas brought up, if just to know why (specifically) they wouldn't work, or wouldn't be necessary.

As Cheat said elsewhere, he's considering adding more people to the staff (but please note that it's not a guarantee of anything). It's been brought to light today that we may be understaffed--considering that I wasn't even available to check up on the thread during the day, or else I would have. Granted, I wasn't around to see this unfold, so I don't know who else was online or what I could have done, anyway.

All I can really say is that...this sucks, and I'm sorry this happened. Telling you to 'go dark' or something else to avoid spoilers doesn't really change anything, especially given the specific circumstances surrounding MGS V (it's definitely not a typical game release).

And finally, in regards to Gatsby's (lack of a) punishment, I'd think that the backlash he's gotten may suffice. Just don't hold a grudge for too long, because we're human and we all make mistakes, if I can even call it that >.>

Enlighten me, then--how is that so?

Ideas:

1. Forum-specific mods, with powers that work temporarily and need to be looked at by permanent mod to take full effect.

None of their effects last permanently, so any mistakes they make will be rectified.

2. Thread-specific extra-permissions application

Very little downside. The person needs to apply for each specific thread, to which he can be denied if he's untrustworthy. Typically reserved for big threads, like my MGSV or a Star Wars hype thread, etc. Also, it's that's person thread. Don't like it? Make your own thread.

2) I can't speak on behalf of the upper staff, but that sounds awfully draconian and will probably never happen.

Just a friendly reminder that going dark is the only foolproof means of avoiding spoilers. But... man, this was a terrible way to end the hype train week :/

Truth is, a lot of these ideas really are ripe for abuse. Overreactive changes are only asking for trouble.

I forgot to ask Cheat about this so I'll make a post instead, or else I'll forget again.

Has anyone noticed that YouTube spoilers seem to be busted? When I go to a page with a lot of YouTube videos, such as this one, my browser slows down as if it's trying to load all of the videos at once. It defeats the purpose of having video spoilers in the first place.

What's up with that?

Liberty City = New York, Los Santos = LA

Although in GTA-land they're kind of just islands in the middle of nowhere
