Well, I'm afraid I have to get going >.> I have other matters to tend to.

How do I update more, it only made me do Vietnam?
IIRC Vietnam is the last one. Did you get the Onslaught update? (You don't have to buy it, just download it)
How dafuq do I get that?
>.> I don't remember specifically, but go to the in-game store and download all of the updates that are available. You don't have to buy anything, just get the updates--they're two separate items IIRC.
I only saw Update 3, and that was the Vietnam update.
Hmm, what about the map packs? Are those free by now? You might need those.
I'll try downloading them. Can't wait for that to take for-fucking-ever.
I mean... I dunno. This game night was kind of a disaster >.> at this point I don't know if we'll even attempt another one with this game. Don't worry about the download.

OT: Sorry everyone  :'(

FYI: Downloading the updates for DLC packs doesn't mean buying them. It seems like you need them all to play online.

OT: It's been an hour and nothing's happened yet ;_; pls

We're stuck in the menus having technical difficulties. Chally keeps getting kicked when we find a game, and I thought I had Onslaught but apparently I didn't.

I don't think I'll be on for this night, sorry.

Turns out I gotta leave for a flight at 5am tomorrow and I couldn't play for more than an hour or else I'd be wrecked.
Alright, don't worry about it.

I have to say, it was a bit silly how much fun we had *not* playing the actual game >.>

Gaming / Re: Why Marty was fired.
« on: September 05, 2015, 06:25:14 PM »
So let's summarize. Bungie asked Marty to make the series's soundtrack all at once instead of individually. Marty did that, and then got pissy when they wouldn't release it (presumably because he wanted that sweet profit-sharing). And then when Activison/Bungie swapped some trailer music, Marty responded in some disruptive way (of which I've seen no description) that was apparently bad enough to get him suspended, and then when he came back his co-workers claimed he was disruptive and unhelpful, and we also know the game's release date was pushed back because Marty refused to finish sound effect work until the game was completely finished.

I'm not a fan of Bungie's new model, but Marty had a really good thing going and he just kind of pissed it away. It really doesn't seem like anyone was out to get him.
As I understand it, Marty previously had a say in Bungie's promotional trailers, at least since Reach. They suspiciously asked him to make music for stuff that doesn't technically exist yet, and then didn't even use that music, to his objections.

Marty had particularly high requirements for audio that involved many (for a video game) specific changes depending on the player's progress through the level. It's difficult to sync that up when a level isn't even done yet.

And then after usurping responsibilities that he's had for years, they try to cheat him out of assets to which he's legally entitled.

I'm not saying that he was completely in the right, because it does sound like he possibly could have handled it better (and if you're looking for evidence of Bungie's claim that his performance took a toll, just look at Dinklage's performance--that fell under Marty's responsibilities, too). But breaking the law because a longtime employee felt third-wheeled and thus burned a bridge is worse.

I still suspect this has partly to do with Peter Dinklage's shoddy performance. Marty was probably checked out by then and Dinklage was miserable too.

shit sucks, mang
