It's used exclusively by anti-vaxxers to pretend there's some legitimate basis for not vaccinating at the recommended intervals. It's similar to creationists propping up 'intelligent design' as having any scientific legitimacy--it's really just creationism in a lab coat.
I personally don't see why you would space them out past the recommended dates-- the recommended dates are when the vaccine would be the most effective. But if someone disagrees with that, they should at least be able to recognize that there's an importance to vaccines and that there are deadlines you have to get them by.

Sometimes the only decent way to sort them out is to see if the professionals are saying the same, with similar rationale. Truth is, no honest doctor would ever recommend 'spacing them out', especially for a perfectly healthy person with no previous history of adverse effects from vaccinations. There would be reasons like, I dunno, maybe the child's parents can't afford them all at once, or maybe the kid had an unusual reaction to a vaccine. The notion that 'spacing them out' is some kind of default, standard practice is completely bogus.
