Against Me! - Transgender Dysphoria Blues
I was laughing pretty hard when I saw this. I copied and pasted it into YouTube so I could listen to it and make fun of it, but wow. It made me feel kinda bad.

does it make you feel bad because it's a well written song or because the song is so bad you feel ashamed to laugh at it

i'd listen to it but i'm in the middle of another album right now

she has a boyfriend and i have limited time

1. Aquire more time.

2. Ask the boyfriend to not be her boyfriend anymore.

3. Enjoy the sweet life.

my current plan is better than that

people seem to think the instrumental bits are just needless filler and make the album seem bloated--i don't necessarily agree, but i can see where they're coming from i guess--i think they all add some weight and gravitas to the whole experience

yeah, i can see that. la mer and stuff, right?

Quote
the underlying theme/story going on with the record is kinda like a followup of TDS, but the parts are more loosely connected, and difficult to make out--so it takes many many listens to finally "get it," but when i got it, it stuck with me forever, and i think the result is absolutely beautiful

huh. that's interesting. i haven't gotten around to listening to it for the entirety of its duration. i've listened to every track in fragmented sessions but it's a different ball game when you focus on the music for that long. i was actually making some thematic connections between PHM and TDS earlier today. If PHM has a "sad" feeling to it, TDS feels more "angry". plus there seem to be religious undertones in PHM that he follows up with in TDS, particularly "heresy" (which i think is my favourite song on the album).

anyways, my point being. i'll have to listen to the fragile in its entirety at some point to see if i can understand what you're getting at.

but uh, what do you think of the songs sanctified and closer?

in case you were wondering, this is the other album i'd give a 10 to

have you shown me these guys before? that album looks familiar

my favourites: Pretty Hate Machine, The Downwards Spiral (you can barely see it, but it's between "Broken" and "The Fragile"),  Songs for the Deaf (Red case near the top), Vienna, Love is Here, and Diamond Dogs.

The CD's currently in the head unit of my car are as follows

Against Me! - White Crosses
Against Me! - Transgender Dysphoria Blues
Against Me! - New Wave
Ellie Goulding - Halcyon Days
Ellie Goulding - Bright Lights
Alkaline Trio - My Shame Is True

There was a Chunk! No Captain Chunk!  album in there last week. That is what I've been listening to lately.

why so few? is there a limit to the amount of CDs you can have in your car or something

And I'll check that out, I've been listening to Springsteen quite a bit recently.

i have a few Springsteen CDs if you want 'em for a bit

it's a bit of a gauntlet

a very rewarding one, imo, but a gauntlet nonetheless

can't say i've ever heard that phrase before. "Gauntlet". Like, it's a long album to listen to?

it happens to be my favorite album of all time, and one of only two albums i'd give a 10 to

well i mean, it was the first NIN album I bought. ordered it a few days after you showed me the instrumental video in that one thread. been hooked ever since. actually trying to get all the halos for my collection.

it's very mellow in comparison to PHM and TDS (the only other full albums i've listened to). i absolutely love how the songs just fade into each other. the great below, into the void, we're in this together, the fragile... great fucking songs. it's a good album to listen to as an introduction to NIN. I feel like the other two i listed are much more angry and "in your face," if that makes any sense. kinda intimidating to those who are just beginning to listen, i guess.

what about the fragile makes you like it so much?

There's nothing specific I look for. I either like them or I don't. All of the girls I've loved are radically different.

What's the point if you're going to be restricted and have to hold hands with your teachers

well the group i got put into is about 5 people, all of whom are some of my best friends, and the teacher i have is super chill. last year he got wasted with his group at dinner lol. i'm bringing my n64 cuz he and my friends want to play Smash and Mario Kart.

so he'll probably not be a cockblock yknow
