Well, her argument was less focused on the violence towards the women, and more on the situation that they were in--almost completely nude, so as to create erotic tension, or something. Like, she thinks the game is trying to derive a perverse sense of pleasure from desecrating their bodies while being a voyeur. It wasn't really about the violence itself.

Again, it was a terrible example and she even lost points from me for that. I can't really defend it.

one of the halos includes Pretty Hate Machine, Broken (IIRC), The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile in one collection, all on vinyl, so i'm hoping someone i know nuts up and buys me it as a gift or something. it's pretty expensive tho

i have a record player but no vinyls yet. i would like to get some, though.

In addition to what Verb posted (which I would have to encourage you listen to first to avoid edge-overload), here are some of my favourites so far. Keep in mind I've only listened to material up to With Teeth (meaning I haven't listened to anything of his post-2005 -- yet.)

Halo 2 is my favourite thus far. The narrative resonates with me on a personal level, I guess. Halo 5 would probably be my favourite if it had more content, though. There just isn't enough of what's there to keep my engaged as long as Halo 2 or Halo 8.

Halo 19 just came in yesterday so I'm in the middle of forming an opinion on it. I've experienced it in its entirety several times already but I find it takes longer to gauge the quality of it because it is such a departure from the style of the previous Halos.

I'm looking forward to Halos 24, 26, 27 and 28, though.
