Belief in God is not a choice, an atheist like Max has no ability to just "choose" to believe that Christ died on the cross. That is how it works.

You said earlier that you believe in heaven and hell, yet don't believe in God. Without God, there are no rules by which you are sent to heaven/hell.

No, I said, "Under my current belief system, I still exist after death [the implication here is heaven and hell]." To which I followed up by saying that I'm not sold on the supernatural aspects of the religion, like the actual existence of my God, heaven and hell, resurrection, etc.

I understand the confusion, but I meant, I, "officially", as an Orthodox Christian, believe in heaven and hell.

I've only recently (this passed Monday) decided to become a Christian, and considering I was always a pretty comfortable atheist, it's still a bit hard for me to just take the leap. Trying to figure things out for myself, so I apologise if I don't have all the answers you're looking for (and I'm not even sure they exist).

But you don't believe in God, and God created sin. Sin [or rather, unrepented sin, depending on your flavor of Christianity] is what sends you to hell. Without God, there is no sin.

No man has the authority to tell another where God will send them. I struggle to believe a follower of Christ's message, inadvertent or not, could be justifiably sent to hell.
