"let the market decide"
haha yeah the """"market"""" totally not kids and teens which they take advantage of because they'll just get mommy and daddy to take them
What would you rather we do? Pass legislation that bars Marvel from releasing more than 1 movie every 2 years?

I mean... what does the statement "I get tired of superhero movies" even mean for you guys? What do you want the creators to do with that information, stop making movies? Genuinely curious.

You can't have gritty realism and corny comic book storylines at the same time. It's either or.
To be fair, I don't think that's what Snyder is going for. He's going for over-the-top comic book authenticity.

I've generally seen the distinction between movies and most other media forms but in reality there really isn't any...
Exactly. That's how Kevin Feige (the man behind the entire MCU idea) sees them -- just another avenue for comic book writers to express their stories in.

Also, I retract my statement that Batman and Superman's fight is well-justified in the story. It isn't.
That's unfortunate.
The fight is still well-done, but after I re-watched everything leading up to it... yeah. It makes no sense.

if you wanna have a conversation on the quality of comic book movies, let's do that. it's something that needs to be done.
but the solution to bad movies isn't to stop making movies -- it's to try and make better movies.

look at what verb said 30 movies over 5 years? it's excessive and blatantly pushed out because they're cash cows
30 movies over 5 years, divided by 4 different publishers isn't that much. How many movies does Disney publish in a year? Sony? Fox? WB? It's not that ridiculous. Not to mention, many of those are arguably not comic book movies. TMNT? C'mon. "blatantly pushed out because they're cash cows" don't go see it, then? let the market decide what should and shouldn't be made.

i have no issue with superheroes, the comics and some tv shows are pretty good forms of entertainment, the movies however are trash.
so then why advocate that they go away why not advocate that they just try to improve them seems like it's just popular to hate on them nowadays. marvel's movies have been consistently entertaining.

Superhero movies suck and you should feel bad
why do you need to add "movies" to the end of that why not just say superheroes suck why make the distinction

Don't try to deny there's been a huge resurgence of superhero movies and media lately. It's getting tedious. I don't deny that. I contest the idea that that's a bad thing. It isn't. Movies are just a new outlet for comics to exist in, similar to video games and animation.

Superheroes are the new zombies. It's getting so overdone.
Comics have been around for 60+ years, not sure how they haven't already been "overdone". This meme needs to die before it even lives. Just because WB doesn't know what their doing doesn't mean they should go away.

I figured out why I was having a hard time gauging the movie's quality. When Snyder does something good, it's really good -- but for everything he gets right, he gets 3 things so wrong. This dichotomy confused the hell out of me.
For example, he'll create a fantastic fight sequence that, visually, looks so fucking cool, thanks to the cinematography and costumes. But then he'll do something stupid like make a guard in the background just stand there with his weapon and watch Batman beat up his friends, or make a misc. henchman pull out a fucking FRAG GRENADE instead of using his fully functional G36 to shoot him. Just small, dumb decisions that are present in abundance.
It's really heartbreaking to dislike this movie because when I see Ben Affleck and Cavill besides each other, in their respective suits, something inside me just gets so giddy -- it's not like Marvel, where they helped make characters like Iron Man and Thor cool with their movies (both characters were pretty unpopular before the MCU); Batman and Superman were cool and popular beforehand, and seeing them up there, together, looking so... authentic, is just amazing. It took them 3 movies to get Captain America's suit right -- Snyder only needed one.
It just sucks that everything else pretty much blows ass.

Eh, if that does happen it's not slotted until at least 2020. Could happen for Justice League. Chances are low, sure, but... I can be optimistic sometimes. Spoiler That was flash? For some reason I thought it was booster gold, but I'm not very familiar with him.
Spoiler Yeah, I thought it was Cyborg until the footage of The Flash in the Gas Station showed up.

What did you think of Spoiler Batman's killing of criminals and use of guns?
Spoiler That was a bit weird, but it sort of makes sense as he's an older disgruntled batman. Still felt odd though
Spoiler He's practically Flashpoint batman.
Not a bad thing. Spoiler I lost my shit when The Flash showed up in Bruce's dream in what looked like a portal from the future, alluding to the potential for a Flashpoint Paradox movie in the future that fixes all of WB's mistakes, like Lex Luthor and Doomsday and WW.

I'm seeing it tomorrow, I don't really want anything spoiled so I'll just ask; Did they cram too much into it? Seeing as from the trailers it seems like there's a bunch of extra stuff that's outside the main Batman Vs Superman thing going on. And it's like 3 hours long isn't it?
Yes, they crammed a lot of shit into it. The Director's cut is 3 hours long.

Also, I've heard the R-rated Director's Cut is 30 minutes longer. Which could help the movie a lot in my books.

I liked parts of Man of Steel, but I am sick of Snyders shit, and kind of expected this to blow. I still think Affleck looks cool, and I still like Cavill, but that skinny greasy fuck as Flash and that anorexic brown chick as Wonder Woman? What the jesus fuck
Not to mention his trademark le edgy dark shit that I am so fucking tired of.
Snyder's a fucking hack, but don't hate on the dark themes the DCCU is going for. At least it's different than the family-friendly Marvel movies, albeit, worse off for it.
But to me, if you want to do "dark and gritty", you have to do it right. Snyder is fedora tier. Daredevil manages to be pretty fucking dark while still handling it maturely, and at the same time juggling the more campy aspects (The Hand with their ninja le katana shit).
Snyder films are really just depressing, and not even in the introspective or thought provoking kind of way. It's just immature. Similar to how I feel about the Nolan Batman movies, though I think Nolan handled the mature/darker themes in those movies much better than Snyder did in Man of Steel, even though I actually still enjoyed Man of Steel as the decent movie it was.
Agreed. I just wanted to establish that the proper response to the "it's too dark and edgy" critique isn't "uplifting and happy", it's "let's get the dark and edginess right."

I'm having a difficult time justifying my attendance at any church lately. I just can't seem to really jive with the idea of a communal service... Our relationship with God is intrinsically individualistic. Why do some feel the need to surround themselves with other believers? I'm not really down with that, especially considering I rarely agree with other Christians, even in a theological context.

The premise of Superman and Batman fighting is just doomed to fail anyway. You can't make that sound not like bullshit.
It's a kiddie fantasy brought to life, and it just doesn't work.
The premise actually works fairly well here. The fight is given good justification. (At first glance, at least. I've only seen it once.) The fight makes sense and is actually handled with care, something I should've expected from Snyder given his love for Superman first and foremost. The problem with the movie isn't the story, it's... everything else. Character direction, cinematography, acting (at a few parts), dialogue...

Really? That's good news. Still, I wish they had the majority about BvS.
Doesn't release until Friday here, though. Even as a Superman fanboy who hates TDKR, I thought the Batman V Superman fight was absolutely perfect.
Would you say this batman is better than TDK batman, then?
Ben Affleck's look and portrayal of both Batman and Bruce Wayne is top-notch. Batman, visually speaking, has never been more faithful to the comics. There are a few minor gripes that ultimately detract from the character, IMO, but yes. This is the best Batman we've ever had. And a very close second to Bale's Bruce Wayne.

I might not be as objective as I'd like to think, though. The fact that Cavill and Afleck are the perfect representations of their characters visually is enough to make me giddy.
