It's that I'm 30 hours in and I still don't have the faintest idea what I'm doing. And for some reason I'm okay with that. I'm just playing a game for the experience instead of for the story or escapism. First time that's ever happened.

it just felt like it tried too hard to be dark souls without hitting the same notes. Also the difficulty felt kinda cheap.

Why did they go from Demon Souls to Dark Souls?
demon souls was a failing project that that got shoved into Hidetaka Miyazaki (who at the time was just an employee at From) and they basically told him, do whatever you want this game is a failure anyway. It was a cult hit, so he created Dark Souls and that was truly his baby. He's now the president of the company.
Awh, man. I love the setting of Nioh. Is Demon Souls worth remaking?

The best part is that even when I finish DS3, I still have Scholar of the First Sin, Bloodborne and Nioh (Japanese samurai variant coming out in the future) still on my list. And I'm not even halfway done DS3. The series isn't finished, right? There'll be more entries?

The music is great but I feel it's underused. There are times when no music is playing at all, though I'm sure this was intentional on From's part to add a sense of hollowness to the game world. But the boss fights are always extremely epic with the chants and choir.
this is pretty much exactly how I feel
It's one of the very few games where I actually think "man this music is awesome"
There's nothing more satisfying than two-hand wielding your sword, preparing your strong attack and methodically marching towards a boss with the awesome music playing in the background.

I'm currently trying to defeat the Abyss Watchers.
Something unique about this boss is that it can be backstabbed like normal enemies. So this should help you a little bit to defeat them.
Yes, I noticed that immediately. I won't have any issue beating him. I gave it a couple tries already and chocked up my failure to fatigue. I'd been playing for 5 hours already by that point. I'll go in recharged tomorrow and best him in a few tries, by my estimation.

Got to the Abyss Watchers boss fight today. I've gotten a lot better, it seems. Not dying nearly as much as I used to.
The boss fights are the worst part of the game, honestly. Not because they're bad, but because they're not as good as the rest of the game. I always enjoy myself more when I'm exploring and upgrading my character. Ah, well.
My friend Yoel died, and I think the reason my guy looks all bloodshot and dead is because I used Yoel's upgrades too many times. I'll have to heal the Dark Sigil with something like 60K souls to get rid of it, I think.
I found some Knight in a well in the Cathedral of the Deep. Probably have to buy some armour for him.
Got through Farron's Keep -- fuck that place. It's impossible to navigate, I'm slow as fuck, I'm always poisoned, and I lost like 24K souls somewhere in there. Especially for someone like me who likes to 100% every area.
But so far I can't believe how much I'm enjoying myself. Seriously one of the best games I've played in recent memory.
