One similarity doesn't make something like Halo. Fortnite feels floaty like Halo. It requires similar movements to win. I'm not saying they're exactly the fucking same but the similarities are there.

No one I've talked to in my life has heard of PUBG unless I introduced them to it. My friend's parents have heard of Fortnite. That's what mainstream is.

There's been some server issues recently and if it's the desert map a lot of people have that map off so it takes longer to get into a match. Again this is all incompetence from the developers.

I don't really understand these complaints. It doesn't take that long.

It takes me 3 minutes to load up a game and wait for the timer to start the match, minimum. That might not sound like a lot but it makes it hard to get another game going if you fuck up early on and die.

Halo is (was) highly competitive. Apart from the aim assist it takes a lot more skill than fortnite.

They're literally the same thing except power weapons are swapped out for building and one is third person.

Really? Anyways there was a huge update after that and the UI is much cleaner now.

I played yesterday and I will say they have made small improvements since last month, but it still takes way too long to drop into a game once you decide to play, and the actual navigation of the UI could be smoother.

I consider it boring. It's true, I haven't played it so maybe I shouldn't judge it so harshly but from what I've seen it doesn't interest me.

I see almost no excitement on any streamers face when they get into a "firefight" on fortnite compared to pubg. It's such an easy game for them they're bored to death, but they're making money so they play it.

They ripped off a lot of shit that is original to pubg and their only comment was (after they were developing this Battle Royale mode for their failed game in the dark, not telling Bluehole anything when they both use the same engine) that they were "inspired" by pubg.

That's my point, that it will be more competitively viable because there's no barrier to entry. League is a dogshit game and its still one of the most popular competitive games around the world because its free. PUBG won't be around in 2 years, 5 years tops.

But again, I don't care about which is more competitive. Fortnite is competitive enough to be addictive, it has a real sense of heart behind it, and it has all the bells and whistles to put the cherry on top.

It looks like garbage, visually. It's has exceptional optimisation problems, the UI is counter-intuitive, game flow is absolutely non-existent for the first 30 minutes of a match... it just looks low-quality, I don't know what else to tell you.

A lot of this has nothing to do with actual gameplay, but this game is supposed to be done. All these problems say to me "unfinished" and "early access," which is why I didn't criticise it a year ago.

Because it doesn't just make a custom game version of ARMA, add a few mincrotransactions and call it a day. It's its own game built from the ground up with some cool twists on the genre that both improve it from an enjoyment perspective and an artistic one.

At the end of the day, I don't respect PUBG like I do Fortnite because the developers didn't really do anything to be respected. They just modded ARMA. Any gameplay achievements they have they owe to the ARMA developers. Maybe PUBG is "more competitive," (I still don't really agree) but it's not more fun, and it won't be played more competitively like Fortnite will.  PUBG asks for money upfront and then asks you to spend more for loot you're entitled to, they bully less successful developers who are doing their job better than they are, and they just sit on their hands with their earnings instead of actually using them to make their game better. Maybe none of these things hamper the actual quality of the gameplay, but Fortnite goes just as far in the opposite direction of "scummy" and it actually improves the game (this Infinity Gauntlet mode being a prime example.) And when a developer actually gives a shit and wants to make their game better, you can feel it while playing, and that improves the experience for me.

It's not. You could remove all the "gimmicks" and it would still be a fun and popular game. Lots of people do that because it's free and just play to play for the hell of it. But the game is so fun you feel compelled to spend money on it to support it. That's how it worked for me.

No, I think the game is relatively fair and competitive and I also think competitiveness has no bearing on overall quality or overall competitive potential. League isn't fair, and it's one of the biggest ESports around. Fortnite is going to achieve the same thing because there's no barrier to entry. It's already started happening with Ninja's Las Vegas tournament thing.

If a game can't be played competitively it isn't fair. If a game isn't fair it's not a quality game.

Fair is subjective, and has no bearing on game quality, either.
